Ariya Jutanugarn Closes With a 9-Under 63 to Win the Honda LPGA Thailand

Playing a NEW Pro V1x golf ball, Ariya Jutanugarn closed with a 9-under 63 to rally from five shots back entering the final round and become the first Thai player to win an LPGA event in her home country.

  • Jutanugarn, who was playing the new Pro V1x model for just the fourth event, made nine birdies on the day, including three in her first three holes and six during her front-nine 30.
  • Her final birdie of the day at the par-5 18th earned her the one-shot victory.
  • Jutanugarn led a 1-through-6 finish for Pro V1 and Pro V1x players, as Titleist golf ball players have now won eight of the first nine LPGA events to start 2021.

The United States defeated Great Britain & Ireland, 14-12, in the 48th Walker Cup Match at Seminole Golf Club, where 17 of the 20 players competing in Sunday afternoon’s closing singles session played a Titleist golf ball.

  • Nine of the 10 players on the winning U.S. side played a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x – including the Big 12 Conference’s individual champion, who secured the clinching point for the U.S. in his 4-and-3 singles victory playing Pro V1x.
  • Of the 22 players who competed in at least one match over the four sessions, Titleist also was top choice in the driver (10 players), fairway (10), iron (9), wedge (12) and putter (8) categories.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Garrick Higgo – playing a NEW Pro V1x golf ball and full bag of Titleist equipment including a TSi3 driver and NEW Phantom X 5.5 putter – cruised to his second European Tour victory in the last three weeks with a record-setting performance in Tenerife, Higgo’s closing 7-under 64 – which included his first professional hole-in-one on the 166-yard 7th hole at Golf Costa Adeje with a Titleist T100 9-iron – put him at 27 under for a European Tour record-low total of 255.

  • Higgo finished the three-tournament swing around the Canary Islands at a cumulative 68 under par.
  • The left-handed Higgo jumped from 66th to 51st in the Official World Golf Ranking, while moving up to fifth in the Race to Dubai Rankings.
  • Higgo, 21, is the fourth-youngest player to record three European Tour wins.
  • He is the fastest South African to three victories (not including majors or World Golf Championships) in tour history.
  • He also matched the record for the fewest number of events (26) needed to claim three European or PGA Tour wins since 1990.

HIGGO’S SWITCH TO NEW PHANTOM X 5.5

Higgo switched to the NEW Phantom X 5.5 putter from a competitive model at the Austrian Open, one week before his victory at the Gran Canaria Open.

  • He finished first in Strokes Gained: Putting (+2.62) that week while averaging 1.54 putts per green in regulation.
  • This week, Higgo finished fourth in the same category (+1.95) while only needing 1.47 putts per green in regulation. 

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS | Regions Tradition

After starting the week as first alternate, Alex Cejka – playing a NEW Pro V1x golf ball – won his first PGA TOUR Champions’ title and major.

  • Cejka claimed the trophy with a birdie on the first hole of an all-Titleist playoff with fellow Pro V1x loyalist Steve Stricker, who had birdied the 72nd hole to force overtime.
  • Cejka and Stricker finished regulation at 18 under, four shots clear of third-place finisher Robert Karlsson (NEW Pro V1).
  • It was Cejka’s third-career appearance on the tour, having Monday qualified for his two previous starts.
  • Two events ago at the Chubb Classic, Stricker finished atop the leaderboard while Cejka and Karlsson finished tied for second. 

KOREAN PGA TOUR | 40th GS Caltex Maekyung Open

Playing a NEW Pro V1 golf ball, InHoi Hur earned his fourth KPGA Tour victory while leading a 1-through-5 finish for Titleist golf ball players.

  • Hur finished the four days at 5-under 279, two shots clear of Titleist Brand Ambassador JooyHyung Kim (2021 Pro V1x golf ball; TSi3 9.0° driver; TSi2 15.0° and TS3 21.0° fairways; T100 (4-PW) irons; Vokey SM8 52.12F, 56.10S, 60.06K wedges; Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 tour prototype putter).
  • Titleist Brand Ambassador SangYun Park (2021 Pro V1 golf ball; TSi3 10.0° driver; TSi3 15.0° and 18.0°, TSi2 21.0° fairways; 620 CB 4-iron and 620 MB 5-9 irons; Vokey Design SM8 46.10F, 52.08F, 58.06K, Scotty Cameron Del Mar tour prototype) finished another shot back in third.
  • Eight of the 11 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

Pro V1 loyalist Wilco Nienaber claimed his maiden Sunshine Tour victory with a birdie on the third hole of an all-Titleist playoff with Hendric Sturehed (Pro V1x).

  • Nienaber, who also birdied the 72nd hole to finish the day at 7-under 65 and force the playoff with Sturehed, led a 1-through-7 finish for Titleist golf ball players.
  • Nienaber’s victory is the seventh-consecutive win by a Titleist golf ball player to start the 2021 season.
