Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson captured the RBC Heritage, reeling off five birdies in a six-hole stretch on the back nine en route to a closing 7-under 64. His record-breaking 22-under par 262 victory total was one shot clear of runner-up Abraham Ancer (Pro V1), who was seeking his first career win. Simpson broke the tournament scoring record set in 2009 by two shots.

The win was the seventh of Simpson’s PGA TOUR career and the second on Father’s Day (2012 U.S. Open) for the father of five. Simpson wore a yellow shirt during his final round on Sunday — as he does every event — in honor of his late father, Sam. The U.S. Open traditionally ends on Father’s Day, but it was moved to September this year because of COVID-19. Simpson has also won on Mother's Day (2018 PLAYERS).

“This morning I thought about him, and when I was on the golf course, I thought about him,” Simpson told the PGA TOUR. "He loved golf. He would have loved watching today."

Simpson, who won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February, becomes the third player to win two PGA TOUR events this season, joining fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Justin Thomas (CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, Sentry Tournament of Champions) and golf ball loyalist Brendon Todd (Bermuda Championship, Mayakoba Golf Classic).

The victory also vaulted Simpson to the top of the FedEx Cup standings and to No. 5 in the world.

Simpson topped a leaderboard on which 11 of the 13 players who finished among the top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, including each of the top seven. Three of the top seven finishers play the Titleist golf ball without an agreement.

The win is the 19th for Titleist golf ball players through the first 24 events (79%) on the 2019-20 PGA TOUR, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 2. Titleist also has more wins in the driver (tied with 9), iron (11), wedge and putter (8) categories than any competitor.

Trusting Titleist equipment from tee-to-green, Simpson statistically finished 2nd in Birdies; 7th in SG: Tee-to-Green; 8th in SG: Approach to Green; and 12th in Greens in Regulation.

On Saturday, six players fired 8-under par 63s to play themselves into final round contention. All six – Tyrrell Hatton, Carlos Ortiz, Joel Dahmen, Joaquin Niemann, Chris Stroud and a player without an agreement – rely upon Titleist golf balls.

KORN FERRY:

Chris Kirk (Pro V1x) birdied the final hole of the King & Bear Classic at World Golf Village to edge Justin Lower (Pro V1) by one shot and finish two clear of Titleist Brand Ambassador Will Zalatoris (Pro V1, TS3 [9.5°] driver, TS3 [16.5°] fairway metal, TS3 [19.0°] hybrid, T100/4-PW irons, Vokey Design SM8 gap [50°], gap [54°] and WedgeWorks sand [58°] wedges) and Joseph Bramlett (Pro V1).

Kirk started the day four shots behind 54-hole leader Vince India (Pro V1) and closed with a 5-under par 67 en route to a 26-under 262 victory total. He topped a leaderboard that featured 11 Titleist golf ball players among the 13 who finished in the top six and ties, including each of the top five.

Kirk was playing in his first Korn Ferry Tour event since the 2010 season, when he won twice.

India tied the course record on Saturday with a 10-under 62 and finished in the top 10 two weeks in a row.

Zalatoris, playing alongside Kirk and India, was in the final group for the second consecutive week, and improved upon his T6 with a T3. He has posted four top-10 finishes in seven starts this season.

Bramlett closed his round by holing a 6-iron for double eagle on the par-5 18th. He finished three shots back and in a tie for third place, a week after he finished T2 at the Korn Ferry Challenge at TPC Sawgrass.

Titleist topped the golf ball count with 111 (71%) players in the field of 156, more than six times the nearest competitor with 17. Titleist was also the field favorite in drivers (45), hybrids (25), utility irons (36), irons (49) and wedges (229).
