Davis Riley Wins the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge

In complete control at Colonial, Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis Riley led the field with more than 11 strokes gained tee-to-green over the four days in Fort Worth, claiming his first solo PGA TOUR title with a five-shot win over a star-studded leaderboard.

  • Playing a Pro V1 golf ball and Titleist equipment setup that includes his TSR3 driver, T-Series irons, Vokey Design SM10 wedges and Scotty Cameron putter, Riley posted rounds 66-64-66-70 to finish the week at 13 under, the only player to reach double-digits under par.
  • Over the 72 holes at Colonial, Riley gained more than 3 ½ shots off the tee (+3.658/6th), nearly eight shots on approach shots (+7.869/2nd), and just under six shots on the greens (+5.921/4th) – on his way to a field-best 21 birdies.

DAVIS RILEY ON HIS MOVE TO PRO V1

  • On a firm and fast Colonial, Davis Riley was dialed in with his Pro V1, gaining +7.869 strokes on approach shots (2nd).
  • His 68 percent greens in regulations ranked T3 for the week. Riley made the move to 2023 early last season, making the transition from Pro V1 Left Dot.
  • Said Riley: “There were quite a few similarities between this and the Left Dot which I like so much, but I actually saw a big improvement with this ball – I was able to achieve a higher trajectory with the longer stuff like the long irons and woods, which is what you’re looking for coming into firm greens. I was able to get that with this ball and getting more trajectory for the right reasons. Not because it’s up-shooting because of more spin. This was higher launch, but maintaining a really good spin… where you hit it just how you want, and it comes out in that window and the wind just doesn't really touch it.
  • “I gained one or two more miles per hour ball speed, actually, opposed to the Left Dot with the driver, which was really cool to see. Also, that dispersion came in a little bit, so I was getting kind of the best of both worlds, and it was pretty hard not to put it in when I saw that.
  • “I’m a small drawer of the ball, so if I’m hitting in a left to right wind, I don’t like to see the ball start right and then the wind just destroy it right. But there were a couple times this off-season I hit the [’23 Pro V1], and it just held its line so nice. That draw just held up perfectly, and it didn’t get taken away by the wind or eaten up by the wind. Just seeing that level of consistency through the wind and staying in the air for that time was really cool to see.”

RILEY’S BLENDED TITLEIST IRON SET

  • Davis Riley gained the majority of his strokes this week on approach shots using a blended set of Titleist irons featuring two T-Series models and 620 MB blades.
  • He moved to his current setup earlier this season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, having previously played a blended set of T100, 620 CB and 620 MB.
  • Riley’s new setup starts with a T200 3-iron. He then moves to T100 models in his 4-, 5- and 6-irons, and 620 MB in his 7-through-9 irons.
  • He plays Vokey Design SM10 pitching (46.10F), gap (50.08F), sand (56.08M) and lob (60.04T) wedges.
  • “It’s always nice having a little extra forgiveness there in the longer irons,” Riley said last season about his T100 4-iron. “It’s been a good club to have to have that extra little forgiveness when you’ve got 220 over water into a par 5 or long par 4. So just looking down at that is really good.”

RILEY ON HIS PHANTOM X PUTTER

  • Davis Riley capped off his five-shot victory at Colonial with a 6-footer for par on the 18th hole.
  • He was locked in with his Scotty Cameron mallet all week, gaining nearly six shots (5.921/4th) on the field with his Phantom X 7.2 tour prototype.
  • “The way it looks, all the square lines, I feel like it frames the ball really well and just everything sits super square,’ Riley said. “I've always been a big believer in that if you're really comfortable looking over it and everything feels square, it's just going to set up for good putting. So that's what I’ve done.”

AMATEUR | NCAA DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

TITLEIST IS OVERWHELMING #1 BALL AT NCAA D1 MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP, MOST PLAYED BRAND IN ALL MAJOR EQUIPMENT CATEGORIES

  • As college golf’s best players compete this week for the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship, the overwhelming majority of them are playing a Titleist golf ball.
  • Of the 156-player field teeing it up at La Costa, 89 percent (139 players) are playing a Pro V1 or Pro V1x model, more than 15 times the nearest competitor with nine.
  • It was the same story across the six qualifying NCAA regional sites, with 402 of the 450 competitors (89%) teeing up a Titleist.
  • Titleist golf clubs are also the top choice of players in every major equipment category this week at La Costa, with more of the NCAA’s best using Titleist drivers, fairways, hybrids, utility irons, irons, wedges and putters than any other brand:
    • 51 percent of players (79) at the NCAA Championship are using a Titleist driver.
    • More players are also using Titleist fairways (67/42%) and hybrids (14/37%) than any other brand.
    • Half the field is playing Titleist irons (50%/78 players), while 66 percent (70) of the utility irons in play are Titleist.
    • 57 percent of the gap, sand and lob wedges in play are Vokey Design wedges.
    • 40 players (26%) are gaming a Scotty Cameron putter, more than any other brand. 

NCAA WOMEN’S CHAMP LEADS 1-THROUGH-9 FINISH FOR TITLEIST GOLF BALL PLAYERS

Titleist was the overwhelming #1 ball at the women’s NCAA Division I Championship, with 92 percent (144) of competitors teeing up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x model at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

  • That included the individual champion (Pro V1), who led a 1-through-9 finish for Titleist golf ball players.
  • Titleist clubs were also the top choice amongst competitors for drivers (51/33%), utility irons (45/90%), irons (59/38%), wedges (239/51%) and putters (50/32%).
  • AMATEUR | U.S. AMATEUR FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP
  • More than 250 competitors  arrived this week at Philadelphia Cricket Club to compete for the U.S.  Amateur Four-Ball Championship – and 85 percent of them teed up a Titleist golf ball.
  • In total, 216 players are playing a Pro V1, Pro V1x, Pro V1 Left Dot or Pro V1x Left Dash, more than 12 times the  nearest competitor (17).
  • Titleist is also the top choice of players in  every major equipment category:
    • There are more Titleist drivers (102/40%), fairways (117 players/38%) and hybrids (55/50%) in play than  any other brand.
    • Titleist irons are the top choice of players in Philadelphia with 101 (40%) sets in play, more than double the nearest  competitor (37). Fifty-five percent (72) of the utility irons in play  are also Titleist.
    • There are more Vokey Design gap, sand and lob wedges (482/66%) in play than all other brands combined.
    • More competitors are gaming Scotty Cameron putters (80/32%) than any other brand. 

KPGA | KB Finance LIIV Championship

Seungsu Han (Pro V1x) carded a final round 1-under-par 71 to win by one stroke at Blackstone Golf Club.

  • Han topped a leaderboard that featured six Titleist golf ball players in the top eight positions.

KLPGA | The 12th E1 Charity Open

Titleist Brand Ambassador So Hyun Bae – playing a Pro V1x golf ball and full bag of Titleist, including her TSR3 driver, blended set of Titleist irons, NEW Vokey SM10 wedges and Scotty Cameron putter – secured her first KLPGA title with a three-shot victory at Ferrum Club.

  • Nine of the top 10 players on the final leaderboard teed up a Titleist golf ball.

LET | Jabra Ladies Open

Morgane Metraux (Pro V1x) was the only player to reach double-digits under par this week at Evian Resort Golf Club while claiming her second victory on the LET.

  • Morgane’s second-round 7-under-par 64 propelled her to the top of the leaderboard going into the final round, and she birdied two of her last four holes to win by three.
  • Morgane led a 1-2-3-4 finish on the leaderboard for Titleist golf ball players.
