Titleist Weekly Tour Highlights

EUROPEAN/AUSTRALASIAN:

Adam Scott captured the final regular season event across the 2019 major worldwide professional tours, finishing strong to win the Australian PGA Championship.

It marked his 11th career European Tour title and his 30th worldwide crown. He also won this event in 2013, the same year he won the Masters.

Scott finished two shots clear of runner-up Michael Hendry, while five players — including fellow Titleist Brand Ambassadors Cameron Davis, Nick Flanagan and Wade Ormsby — finished in a tie for third place, another shot back [see the WITB of all players below].

Scott, who started the final round with a one-shot lead, fell behind on Sunday until he eagled the par five 15th for the third time to move ahead once again.

He closed with a three-under par 69, en route to a 13-under par 275 victory total.

Scott switched to the Titleist TS4 (10.5°) driver at the Zozo Championship, where he finished T-33, followed by a T-11 at the WGC-HSBC Champions. According to Titleist Tour Representative, J.J. VanWezenbeeck, who worked with Scott at the Zozo: “Adam has always liked a traditional shaped driver and the TS4 is pleasing to his eye. He also prefers a little more spin on his driver for the ability to control and shape shots. At ZoZo, he tested the TS4 vs. his TS3 gamer and saw a better launch to spin ratio. We moved it to a D4 Titleist SureFit setting, which increases the loft by .75° and as a result typically increases spin, and he loved the look as well as the shot shape of his drives. He also saw some distance increases with the flatter angle of descent.”

This win also marked just his second official start since putting the new Vokey SM8 wedges in his bag (SM8 pitch 48.10F, SM8 gap 52.12F [adjusted to 10° of bounce], SM8 sand 56.10S, and SM8 lob 60.10K [adjusted to 8° of bounce]).

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 129 of the 156 players teeing up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x – that’s 83% of the field – more than 11 times the nearest competitor with 11.

Titleist was also the field favorite in drivers, fairways, hybrids, utility irons, iron sets and wedges, and just one putter shy of another clean sweep.

ASIAN:

Jazz Janewattananond (Pro V1x) continued his exceptional form, capturing Thailand Masters on his home soil for his fourth title on 2019 Asian Tour.

It was his second major Asian Tour victory this month, as he captured the Indonesian Masters last week, when he also secured the Order of Merit title. He had previously won the Singapore and Korean Open this year.

The 24-year-old closed with a six-under par 65, en route to a 23-under par 261 victory total and five-shot win. He fired an 11-under par 60 in the third round, which included a string of seven birdies. He topped a leaderboard that included seven of the top 10 finishes trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success.
