For the past two years, scores of scientists, engineers and technicians in Titleist Golf Ball R&D have immersed themselves in a rigorous process to achieve one single but daunting goal - to make the best golf balls on the planet even better.

This week, their efforts were unveiled at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, where PGA TOUR players got their first glimpses and hit their first shots with the new 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls.

It was here in Las Vegas where the very first Pro V1 golf ball was introduced. The date was October 11, 2000 and when Titleist's 100-Man March culminated at that year's Invensys Classic, 47 PGA TOUR players, including the eventual winner, made the switch to Pro V1. This represented the largest shift in equipment usage at one event in golf history and it triggered a revolution in the game. For the first time, players weren't forced to choose between long, straight distance off the tee and short game spin and control. Pro V1 was a golf ball without compromise.

Now, the return to Las Vegas has become a fond biennial tradition for the teams who create next generation Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls. Team Titleist was on the grounds at TPC Summerlin to capture all the excitement of this official Tour debut and to listen in as some of the best players in the world worked with Titleist Golf Ball R&D and Tour Support staff to determine which 2019 model they'll be putting in play, the new Pro V1 or the new Pro V1x.

Check out a few sights and sounds we collected from earlier this week:
