Titleist Weekly Tour Highlights

EUROPEAN:

Tyrrell Hatton (Pro V1x) secured his second Rolex Series crown and fourth career European Tour title in dramatic fashion, carding a par on the fourth extra hole of a record-tying, six-man playoff at the Turkish Airlines Open.

Hatton birdied the final hole of regulation to earn a position in the playoff, which included four Pro V1 players: Benjamin Hebert, Victor Perez, Erik van Rooyen and Matthias Schwab, who was seeking his first career win and owned the lead or a share of it since Day 1. All six players finished on 20-under 268.

Schwab’s second-place tie was his sixth top-10 finish in his last nine events, and his 10th of the season, more than any other player on the 2018-19 European Tour. He has also broken par in 31 of his last 35 competitive rounds.

Hatton chipped in on the first playoff hole, eliminating Hebert, Perez and van Rooyen. With a fourth player eliminated on the third extra hole, Hatton and Schwab competed under the lights for the $2 million first prize.

Hatton’s win marked the 21st by a Titleist golf ball player on the European Tour this season, more than twice the nearest competitor with eight (8), and more than all other golf balls combined.

LPGA: 

Overnight leader Ai Suzuki (Pro V1x) captured the Japan Classic for her first career LPGA Tour crown, closing with a bogey-free 5-under 67 to finish three shots clear of her nearest competitor. Suzuki carded her fifth birdie of the day on the par-5 18th hole to finish with a 17-under 199 victory total.

With the win, Suzuki, a regular on the JLPGA, becomes eligible for LPGA Tour membership.

Hyo Joo Kim (Pro V1) finished 2nd, while Jennifer Kupcho (Pro V1) tied for fourth with Jing Yan (Pro V1x) as four of the top five finishers relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

This event was the last of three consecutive events across Asia. The win was the 25th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2019 LPGA Tour, more than six times the nearest competitor with 4.

CHAMPIONS:

Jeff Maggert captured the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship with a dramatic 123-yard hole out for eagle on the third hole of a sudden death playoff. Playing the Pro V1 golf ball, Maggert's shot on the par-4 17th landed in front of the pin, bounced once and dropped for a stunning conclusion to the season.

With Maggert’s win, Scott McCarron (Pro V1) captured the season points title on the PGA Tour Champions and the $1 million bonus. McCarron tied for 27th at the event.

Both playoff participants finished regulation with a score of 21-under 263, two shots clear of nearest competitor Woody Austin (Pro V1, TS3/13.5 driver, TS3/18.0 fairway metal, 718 CB/4-PW irons, Vokey Design SM7 gap/52, sand/56 and lob/60 wedges, Scotty Cameron 2 Notchback putter).

The win is the 20th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2019 PGA TOUR Champions, finishing the season with four times the nearest competitor (5).
