This spring, make sure you get off on the right foot to start the new golf season by making sure your clubs are all in proper working order. Here are a few quick tune-up tips to help:
- Have your lofts and lies checked to make sure they’re still in spec. Otherwise, you could be hitting poor shots despite making good golf swings.
- Clean your clubs thoroughly with warm water and a mild dish washing detergent. Inspect your club heads, shafts and hosels to make sure nothing is loose, damaged or rattling.
- Put new grips on your clubs if your old grips are brittle, worn or slick.
- And at the top of the spring checklist - WEDGES. Your wedges are your scoring clubs and if it’s been a while since you put a new set of Vokeys in the bag, take a close look, particularly at the faces of these clubs.
How can you tell if it’s time to consider putting some new wedges in the bag? One way is to use the following image as a guide.
The Vokey team recently conducted exclusive research on wedge groove wear and they found that after the equivalent of 75 rounds of play, wedges lose almost 1,000 rpm of spin and roughly 45% of their stopping power on the green. In the short game, stopping power is scoring power and if the faces of your wedges are showing wear, now is a great time to think about some new Vokey SM7 Wedges.
