The wait is almost over. New Vokey SM7 wedges, already the most trusted wedge model on the PGA Tour, will be arriving in golf shops beginning March 9, 2018. Never before has a wedge line offered golfers such precise distance gapping, shot versatility and spin control.
But if you're holding out for that extra Tour touch to set your wedges apart, we've got some exciting news for you from the Vokey team...
Beginning today, February 28, new Vokey Design SM7 Raw wedges are now available exclusively through Vokey WedgeWorks. The preferred finish for many players on Tour, SM7 wedges in Raw finish can be personalized with custom hand stamping, shaft bands, BV Wings grips and any WedgeWorks toe engraving option.
“Raw means there is no additional finish applied to the wedge, which is made of 8620 carbon steel,” Master Craftsman Bob Vokey said. “It has what I like to call a satin appearance that will start to rust after some use.
“On tour, the Raw heads give us the flexibility to grind wedges based on a player’s needs,” Vokey said. “But guys just love the look of that raw steel – some players like it even more as it rusts, kind of like a trusty hammer or another tool. These are their scoring tools.”
To open 2018, Titleist Brand Ambassador Patton Kizzire put a new Vokey SM7 Raw (48.08 F) pitching wedge in play at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. The following week at the Sony Open, Kizzire added two more Raw finish SM7’s (52.12 F and 56.08 M), which he used in winning the event for his second PGA Tour victory.
“I love the way the SM7’s go through the turf, the way they fly,” Kizzire told Team Titleist after the win. “I like to have a nice, strong, leading edge that goes through the turf well. The soles needs to perform well around the greens and in the bunker. Aaron (Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill) does a lot of good work on the Tour Van for me, and they all perform just how I expect them to.”
Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth – who put four new SM7 models immediately in play (46.10 F, 52.08 F, 56.10 S, 60.04 L) – is among the long list of tour players gaming Raw wedges. Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Brian Harman, Charley Hoffman, Patrick Cantlay, Webb Simpson and Russell Henley also prefer the Raw finish.
Spieth has trusted Vokey Design wedges since his junior golf days and like many of his fellow Vokey loyalists, he's commented that the Raw finish provides the advantage of reducing glare that might reflect off the wedge on bright days.
“It’s always been a confident feeling for me looking down at a Vokey wedge, knowing that Bob and Aaron (Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill) have me dialed in. I’ve been playing four Vokeys for years now – always with the Raw finish. I love the look and the feel of the raw metal, especially when they start rusting.”

Vokey Design SM7 Wedges provide all golfers the opportunity for a better short game, through unparalleled craftsmanship, technology & performance. This includes unmatched performance in the three key areas of wedges play:
- Shot Versatility: The fastest way to a better short game is through a wedge fitting. Developed through his collaboration with the world’s best shot makers, Bob’s six tour-proven sole grinds – F, S, M, K, L and the new D grind – allow golfers of all skill levels to be precisely fit for their swing type, shot making style and course conditions.
- Distance & Trajectory Control: Both flight and distance control has been improved through finely tuned Progressive Center of Gravity placement. The Vokey R&D team pushed the COG locations beyond SM6 – higher on the high lofts and lower on the low lofts – to produce more consistent performance with noticeably better feel at impact.
- More Spin Control: 100% inspected Spin Milled grooves cut at even tighter tolerances deliver more spin (up to 100rpm more spin on average). Nothing spins like a Vokey.

New Features: For several generations, finished Vokey Design wedges have featured a heat treatment, but Raw wedges could not be treated. The Vokey team has continued to innovate and they've developed a new proprietary process to treat raw steel, dramatically increasing the durability of the groove edge on each SM7 Raw wedge.
Additionally, SM7 Raw can now be customized with any of the WedgeWorks toe engravings. This includes the traditional tour saw that appears on inline SM7 wedges, as well as the WedgeWorks BV Custom, BV Clover, BV Wings, or BV Fleur-de-lis.

SM7 Raw Loft/Bounce/Grind Matrix: Vokey Design SM7 Raw wedges are offered in nine lofts from 46° to 62°; and all six of Bob Vokey’s Tour-proven sole grinds – F, M, S, L, K and the new D grind.
As part of WedgeWorks, every SM7 Raw wedge can be customized, including personalized stamping in up to 10 characters and one of 12 paintfill colors. Golfers can also choose from an industry-leading selection of shafts, grips, shaft bands and ferrules.
