The Winning Setup: Webb Simpson at The PLAYERS Championship

On one of the most dominating 54-hole performances on the PGA TOUR this season against the toughest field in golf, Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson captured his first PLAYERS Championship by four shots.

Simpson relied on a Pro V1 golf ball and Titleist golf clubs to post an 18-under-par 270 victory total. Along the way, he equaled the course record with a second round 63, and also tied the 36 and 54-hole PLAYERS scoring records at 15-under 129 and 19-under 197, respectively.

“I feel like it's my first win,” Simpson said. “I feel so similar to how I felt in Greensboro back in 2011. There's been some tough moments along the way, but to come here against this field and do what I needed to get it done, I'm so happy.”

Let’s take a look at the equipment that Webb trusted in his momentous victory at The PLAYERS Championship:

The most important piece of equipment in Webb's bag? His Pro V1 golf ball. In 2017, Webb switched from Pro V1x to the new Pro V1 because it gave him a lower ball flight, less spin and a softer feel.2/15

Webb started the season with a Titleist 917D3 (10.5) with a Mitsubishi Kurokage Dual Tini 60 TX shaft. He switched to the 917D2 (9.5) head with Graphite Design Tour AD 125 TX at the Honda Classic. The next week - at the WGC - Mexico Championship - he stayed with the 917D2 head with a new Tour AD IZ 5 X shaft, which he has played ever since. He has not finished worse than T21, including three top 10 finishes in the five stroke play events since Mexico.3/15

Webb carries five metals, including this 913 Fd (18°). According to Titleist Tour Rep J.J. VanWezenbeeck: "The biggest thing for Webb is that he doesn’t mind how many headcovers are in his bag. He knows his ball flight with the Pro V1 and each of his clubs. Hitting his number matters most." 5/15
