Titleist Brand Ambassador JC Ritchie (Pro V1) fired a sizzling final round 8-under-par 64 en route to capturing the Zimbabwe Open for his maiden Sunshine Tour title.
Ritchie’s road to victory had an unlikely start, with the South African finding himself in a hole after his first seven holes of the tournament. But Ritchie bounced back with 29 birdies to tie Titleist golf ball loyalist Trevor Fisher, Jr. at 16-under-par in regulation play.
“I actually started the week off quite rough,” said Ritchie. “Seven-over-par after seven holes. I made an eagle-two on the ninth and that’s where it turned around for me.”
Ritchie sealed the dramatic win on the second hole of his playoff with Fisher, Jr., sinking a curling, right to left 13-foot putt on the 18th green at Royal Harare Golf Club.
“That was unreal golf,” said Ritchie after the breakthrough win. “I really enjoyed it and never really felt like I was out of contention. It was one of the best putting expositions I’ve had in my entire life.”
Titleist golf ball loyalist Oliver Bekker (Pro V1) finished solo 3rd, a shot out of the playoff.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Jean Hugo (Pro V1) finished solo 5th, four shots behind the champion.
Congratulations, JC!
