Scotland's Robert MacIntyre Wins the Genesis Scottish Open on Home Soil

PGA TOUR / DP WORLD TOUR | Genesis Scottish Open

“I’ve not been shy in saying it,” Titleist Brand Ambassador Robert MacIntyre said after Saturday’s third round. “The Scottish Open is the one I want.”

  • On Sunday, he went out and won it – playing his final five holes in 4 under par to win by one shot.
  • Playing a Pro V1 golf ball and a Titleist setup that includes his TSR2 driver, 620 CB irons and Vokey Design wedges, the 27-year-old Scot eagled the par-5 16th to tie the lead, then birdied 18 to claim his second PGA TOUR victory, both coming in his last five starts.
  • MacIntyre gained more than eight shots tee-to-green (+8.7/4th) over the four days at The Renaissance Club, including more than five shots with his approach play (+5.307/6th).

24 WINS THIS SEASON FOR TITLEIST GOLF BALL PLAYERS

  • Robert MacIntyre's victory on Sunday in Scotland marked the eighth consecutive week that a Titleist golf ball player has won on the PGA TOUR.
  • In total, 24 events this season have been won with a Pro V1 or Pro V1x model, more than eight times the nearest competitor with three.

GT DRIVER MOMENTUM CONTINUES ON PGA TOUR

  • Since launching at the Memorial Tournament in June, over 100 players have already gamed a GT driver on the PGA TOUR.
  • This week at the Genesis Scottish Open, there were 35 GT drivers in play, while there were 44 in play at the ISCO Championship.
  • Titleist was the most played driver at both the Genesis Scottish Open (55, 35%) and the ISCO Championship (66, 42%).
  • Among those who have moved into GT metals is the 2013 Masters champion, who plays a NEW GT2 10.0° driver and added a NEW GT2 15.0° fairway to his bag at the start of the week. He finished runner-up at 17 under, gaining 4.124 strokes on the field off the tee (5th). His solo second-place finish was his best of the season.

MACINTYRE WINS WITH FOUR VOKEY WEDGES

  • Robert MacIntyre gamed four Vokey wedges in his winning setup: NEW Vokey Design SM10 46.10F, SM9 50.08F, 56.10S, WedgeWorks 60.06K.
  • MacIntyre relied on the same loft and grind configurations to win his first PGA TOUR start at the RBC Canadian Open last month.
  • This week, he gained 0.695 shots around the greens and went 11-for-16 in up-and-downs.
  • MacIntyre’s victory makes it 21 wins this year on the PGA TOUR for players gaming at least one Vokey wedge, including eight of the last ten.
  • This week in Scotland, six of the top-nine finishers had a Vokey in the bag:

KORN FERRY TOUR | The Ascendant presented by Blue

Cristobal Del Solar (Pro V1x) played his final four holes in 4 under to pull away from the chasing pack and become a Korn Ferry Tour champion for the first time.

  • Del Solar, who is projected to move to No. 5 in the season-long points race with the victory, shot four rounds in the 60’s (66-68-66-66) and posted 22 under, good for a four-shot win.
  • He was in total control of his Pro V1x over the four rounds at TPC Colorado, hitting 59 of 72 greens in regulation (82%, T2).

DEL SOLAR’S MOVE TO 2023 PRO V1x

  • Del Solar began the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season playing a competitive golf ball brand.
  • In late May at the AdventHealth Championship, Del Solar made a mid-season move to Titleist, switching to a Pro V1x Left Dash.
  • Two months later, Del Solar worked with Jeff Beyers of Titleist Golf Ball R&D, looking for more spin at the bottom end of his bag.
  • He moved to 2023 Pro V1x at the Price Cutter Championship and went on to record his then-best finish on the Korn Ferry Tour – a solo 5th at the NV5 Invitational – in his next start.
  • “Cristobal really liked Left Dash but we thought he could benefit from a little bit more spin with his short irons and wedges,” Beyers said. “He tried 2023 Pro V1x and it was a pretty easy change for him. The numbers were great. He played really well, made a late season push to get his TOUR card and now he’s off to a great start this year.”
  • 2023 Pro V1x is engineered with a high gradient dual core design that delivers lower long game spin for increased distance and a more consistent flight – helping golfers hit the ball longer and straighter while maintaining the Drop-and-Stop greenside control that Pro V1x players rely on to play their best.

KPGA | Gunsan CC Open

Titleist Brand Ambassador Yubin Jang defended the title he won last year as an amateur, posting 16 under for four days to win by two.

  • Jang, playing a Pro V1x golf ball and full bag of Titleist equipment, made four birdies and an eagle on Sunday to pull away from the field.
