With a four shot lead and victory in his sights, Justin Thomas stepped up to the 18th at Firestone, teed up his Pro V1x, drew back his TS3 driver and proceeded to unleash a 394-yard drive (the longest of the day) that split the fairway. A smooth approach shot and two putts later, it was a family affair as Justin embraced his parents and grandparents as he made his way to the scorer's tent to sign his card and make the win official.
“When I had my putt, I kind of marked it and I turned around and I just happened to see my parents, saw my grandma and grandpa,” Thomas said. “I just got a huge knot in my throat and I just had to put my head down. I’ve never gotten like that on the golf course before.”
While it was his third win of the season and the ninth of his career, it was an extra special and emotional win as it was the first time Justin had won with his grandparents at an event.
The win also comes just in time as Thomas looks to defend his title at the PGA Championship this week. So let’s take a closer look at what Justin has in the bag.

Titleist Tour Rep J.J. VanWezenbeeck on Justin’s New TS3 Driver:
"JT was one of the early testers in the development of the TS. He was excited from the get-go and provided feedback throughout the development process. During a fitting in May prior to The PLAYERS, we found the TS3 9.5º gave him better ball speeds, with excellent launch to spin ratio, and preferred sound, feel, and look. He practiced with it over the next few weeks and put in at the US Open, the first week it was available for competition. At the Open Championship, Justin had his shaft shortened a 1/8” to help with centering the hit and maximizing control with the higher ball speeds seen with TS."
Justin Thomas on His New Driver:
"It was very easy to transition, as it always is. The new TS driver was instantly faster off the club and I was able to get a few more yards carry when needed. More importantly for me, my spin numbers were more consistent therefore it has helped me drive the ball much better. The fairway metal too has gone up in spin to give me control and can easily fly it 280-285 off the tee if needed. Which is such a great asset and club to have."
