Have you had a chance to experience Titleist 917 drivers? Are you curious about the technological advances that make these the longest, most forgiving drivers that Titleist has ever created? Or maybe you'd like to learn more about the differences between 917D2 and 917D3 and how you can compare the two models side by side?
Well, look no further. We're here to share the science behind these breakthrough products and how these innovations translate into game-changing performance off the tee. For golfers at every level of the game.
How the Titleist Metalwood team delivered complete performance off the tee…
New Titleist 917 drivers are engineered utilizing some new proprietary technologies as well as enhancements to several other key technologies to achieve increased ball speed for more distance along with superior forgiveness.
Titleist's Active Recoil Channel 2.0 is a long, wide, deep channel in the sole of the 917 that actively flexes and recoils at impact to launch the ball off the face with higher speed and lower spin for more distance.
Refined Radial Speed Face 2.0 technology is a high-speed forged face insert that is tuned with ARC 2.0 to promote greater off-center ball speed for more overall distance.
A precise High-MOI Design, with a low and deep center of gravity location, delivers stability and forgiveness by preserving off-center ball speed for more distance, more often.
Complete Performance doesn't end with distance and forgiveness...
Distance and forgiveness are at the top of every golfer's list, but they aren’t the only attributes that players look for in a driver. They also want a repeatable trajectory, a shot shape they can count on for better accuracy. And they need it to look, sound and feel great.
917’s adjustable technologies offer the type of customization previously available only on the Titleist Tour Van. Titleist's proprietary 16-setting SureFit Hosel allows golfers to set loft and lie independently to optimize ball flight for improved shot control and maximum distance.
After five years in development, new SureFit CG technology provides another degree of adjustability through a highly efficient interchangeable weight system that fine tunes spin and launch conditions for a more consistent trajectory and tighter shot dispersion. SureFit CG enables the center of gravity to be moved from Neutral to a back, heel position (Draw) or forward, toe position (Fade).
917 head shapes and structures were designed to produce specific acoustic frequencies, delivering a tour-inspired sound and feel. At address the classic pear-shaped profiles and 917’s tour-validated “liquid slate” finish provide added confidence.
Two models provide two distinct performance choices…
Golfers can choose between two Titleist 917 driver models - 917D2 and 917D3. We designed these different head shapes to provide distinct performance choices, particularly in spin and trajectory, for greater fitting flexibility and precise flight and shot shape optimization.
917D2 provides distance and forgiveness in a large 460cc full pear profile. 917D2 offers more forgiveness and produces a higher peak trajectory with more spin compared to 917D3. (Available in 8.5º, 9.5º, 10.5º and 12º lofts.)
917D3 provides distance with workability in a traditional, tour-inspired 440cc pear profile. 917D3 offers more workability and less spin compared to 917D2. (Available in 8.5º, 9.5º, and 10.5º lofts.)
Tour-proven shaft options …
Stock driver shafts for 917 drivers include four new aftermarket options from the three most played shaft families on the PGA Tour, addressing the fitting requirements of a wide range of players and swing speeds.
Stock shafts, each with a standard length of 45 inches, include the Aldila Rogue M*AX 65 (low-mid launch); Fujikura Speeder Pro TS 74 (low-mid launch); Mitsubishi Diamana Limited D+ White 70 (low launch) and Mitsubishi Diamana Limited S+ Blue 60 (mid launch).
In addition, we offer more than 80 custom shaft options, over 30 at no additional charge.
