  1. Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to the game. I used to play hockey up until a few years ago. This summer I decided to take my game to the next level and start competing. I like playing the proV1 series of balls but have also found that I can work the NXT tour and Velocity balls pretty well. I have miz MP25 irons (my babies - don't tell my wife I said that because I have an actual baby) but I'm looking to get a new set of woods and wedges. What kinds of numbers should I look for when getting fit for a ball? And if I'm able to work the 4 balls above all relatively well, why are they so much differnt? Again be easy on me please. I'm a new player and I shoot in the high 80s. Thank you for your advice and input.

Well on the driver my fitter told me that spin rate should be 2500-2900 with a launch of about 14 degree. But the best advice I can give is to be open minded and get a good fitter
  3. Thanks Dwayne, I'm getting fitted for a driver so I think they might be able to fit me for a ball there as well. I really appreciate the post and advice.

For me, the Pro V1x, gives me the feel I want off the tee, from the rough, and around the green. I experimented with the Prov 1, NXT, NXTs, and other soft balls and found these work for me. When I talk to my regular group about spin rates, compression, I get the deer in the headlights look so I know I am talking to technical. It's about feel and performance. If you can work an NXT, or velocity with consistency, then run with it. It's only you and the 14 clubs in your bag that you control. So have fun, learn from a poor swing, tempo and alignment, and enjoy the day. I may get one four hour round a week for 20 weeks a year and I won't let anything get in my way of a good time. Welcome to the game.
