kuro kage shafts

  1. I recently tried a set of ap1's with the kuro kage  65 gm. graphite shafts. This was my first set of game improvement type irons and first use of graphite shafts. The feel with these clubs was incredible and they are 5-8 yards longer than my current set. They do, however, feel a little light and hit the ball extremely high, which is great when there's no wind. The trajectory of the 7 iron is similar to a pitching wedge!. What are the chances that the 85 gm kuro kage shaft would be a better fit? According to the shaft guide it seems that this shaft might add a little more feel and bring the trajectory down a little.

Hi Rusty,  The Kurokage 85's are heavier overall and will change the swingweight by 1 point.  As to whether it would be a better fit, that would be a good question for your fitter.  If your fitter does not have the Kurokage 85 to fit you with, please have him/her contact us and we would be happy to help.

  3. Thank you. The fitter I saw thought the 85 grams would be better for me, mainly because my initial impression was these were pretty light clubs. I maybe should have given you a little more information. I have been playing now for 57 years and am approaching 70. I've lost a little distance, but not all that much, but do want clubs that I can use for a few years. I am 155 lbs, 5'8''. Drives are about 245 and 7 iron flies 150 yards (although the ap1 with kuro kage 65 gram flies about 157 yds).  Graphite appeals to me because of occasional tendinitis and wrist pain. The one thing I remember from the fitter was ball speed with the 6 iron was consistently 106 -108. I typically hit my irons pretty high anyway with DG s300's.

With this information would it make sense the the 85 gm kuro kage shaft in regular flex would make sense for me, considering that I would probably have better feel with slightly heavier clubs and don't really need any higher trajectory?

    Thank you

Hi Rusty,  Have your fitter call us at 888-TITLEIST and we will arrange to have the shaft sent to your fitter so you can try it before you make a decision.

Hi Dave, On the KK 65 R flex shafts +1/2" with a std grip, the swingweight would be D5 +/-1 swingweight. We can build them heavier or lighter but you will have to make sure your pro makes that swingweight request when he/she calls in the order.
