I am looking to get better shafts (for me) for my driver and 3 wood that will work better for me. I have the 910D3 8.5* driver and the 910F 13.5* 3 wood both with the Stiff 'ahina made for Titleist shaft. I hit the driver with a decent ball flight but I struggle with hooks or if I try to slow things down a bit the miss right (I hit the ball with an in to out swing). My driver carries about 270 - 275 yards. I am generally a good ball striker and am a 2 handicap. I like the ball flight of my made for shafts for the most part but struggle with control. I have the same issue with the 3 wood. I like the feel of the shafts for the most part (though they feel a bit "soft") but I tend to get hooky with these clubs especially if I go after it a bit. I am hoping to get a shaft that is a bit more stable allwoing me to go after it a bit more. I have not tried an X Stiff which maybe I should but I have always felt (in the past) that those felt a bit boardy. I have a TM R11S with a Rip'd NV shaft that I can control a bit better. I actually kind of like the feel of that shaft, it feels more stable but I tend to just hit it too high.
I have the MB irons with both DG S300s and the KBS C-Taper shafts (both stiff) and I love both those shafts.
I have the 910 and 913 Hybrids with the 910 having the 'ahina made for Titleist shaft and the 913 Hybrid with the D+ White shaft (both in stiff) and I love those clubs/shafts. I love the ball flight and the shot shape.
I hit a slight draw with my irons and hybrids but when I get to the driver and 3 wood I can get hooky.
I missed the club fitting at my club sadly and the cart does not have the shafts I want to try in the paragraph below. I am trying to do my research but am at an impass. I want to get a new (better for me shaft) but am unable to try any out right now as my club does not have them for me to demo.
I am wondering if I should be looking at the Mitsubishi Diamana 'Ahina 80 or the Fujikura Motore Speeder VC 7.2 Tour Spec in Stiff. I want something that launches low with low spin but doesn't feel too boardy but is also stable for when I go after it.. I do not need more distance but am looking for more accuracy like I have in the rest of my bag. A little boardy feel isn't bad but too much is tough for me.
I also wonder if I should have the same shafts in both the driver or 3 wood.
I'll probably order a club with one of the above shafts (or what you can recommend to me). Can I also order just a shaft and adapter so that if I don't like the one shaft I can put the other one in the new driver head?
I am kind of going into this blind without being able to try them out so any help you can provide is appreciated before I spend quite a few $ and still not find what I am looking for. Thanks for the help.
