Earlier this year I was fit for 714 CB's.  One part of the fitting we didn't spend much time on was grip size.  We ended up ordering the set with standard grips plus 2 wraps of tape.  After measuring my hand and looking at various grip charts/websites, it looks like I should be playing midsize.  I've also been fighting a pull/hook.  Hand length is 8 1/8 Longest finger is 3 5/8

My current club specs are 714 CB standard length, KBS Tour X flex soft stepped one time.  I was wondering what the swingweight is for my exisiting set, and If I go from my current grip GP Tour Velvet with 2 wraps to a tour velvet midsize, will I throw off swingweight?

If so, what can I do to keep the swingweight the same?

    Thanks for your help

Midsize rubber grips are about 65g - a little over 2 swingweight points vs standard rubber 52g.  You could go to light midsize grip such as Excel RF and GAIN almost 2 swingweight points.

Hi Gary,  We would suggest talking with your fitter and letting him know of the tendency to pull/hook your new irons.  It may also be that the lie needs to be adjusted and he can take a look at both the grip and the lie at the same time.  There are several things that can be done with the grips.  It can be built up under the right hand, or you can go to the midsize grip. Both may slow your release down (if you are pulling due to releasing the hands).  But your fitter will be able to help you work that out. The Tour Velvet Mid size grip is 53.5 grams so about 1/2 swingweight more than the standard Tour velvet (with 2 wraps) that you currently have on your irons  We will not be able to use your same set up (head, shaft, length) and maintain the exact same swingweight with a heavier grip, but a 1/2 swingweight is minimal.
