    Cork,

I currently play the ap1 irons which are fitted with steel shaft NS Pro 950 GH shafts and half an inch shorter.

I purchased a used D2 913 driver with a Diamana blue 72 regular shaft. I think this shaft is definitely too heavy and possibly a bit long.

I am a female, 5.8 in height with an above average swing speed for a female hence the fitting of the lightweight steel shaft on my irons.

Based on the shafts I have on my irons could you give any guidelines for shaft options to try on the driver please??

    Thanks,

    Siobhán.

The empiric answer is the Bassara W for Titlist at 50 g in the W/A/R flex. Without knowledge of loft, spin, or your swing speed, the best recommendation is a fitting. You might benefit from a loft/lie adjustment and shaft length change with your current equipment. You can at least choke down 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and see what that does. If you are not getting enough launch, you can adjust that on the adjustable hosel. Your current shaft will probably work best with a head speed of 85+.

    Hi Siobhan,

It is tough to recommend a driver shaft based simply on what iron shafts you currently play. Because both clubs require such different launch conditions, it is important to try different driver heads and shafts first. If you are looking for something a little lighter, our Diamana Ilima and Bassara shafts would be good starting points.

In the end, it is always best to see a local fitter and hit as many options as possible to find the right combination of speed, launch and spin.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Siobhan,
I forwarded your email to our UK contact and although there is not a fitter close to you in Cork, they are going to be conducting some fitting days in and around Cork in September and will send you an email invitation.  Alternatively, you can also visit the National Fitting Centre at Carton House (outside of Dublin) and they will be able to fit you.
