I had a recent driver fitting in order to gain more yards off the tee. (I would be happy with 10+ yards)..Recent demo's of drivers on the course had shown them all to go about the same distance.
My current 10.5 driver was tested and it is spinning around 4500+ at 90mph. The fitter tried a number of different lofts and shafts. Best configuration was a 9.5 loft with a regular shaft but he could not get the spin down below 4000. I gained maybe 5 yards with this combo..
His conclusion was that my swing plane (he noted some over-the-top characteristics) were causing the spin and thus no loft/shaft combo could fix this high spin without losing a lot of distance e.g an 8 degree driver with a x-Stiff shaft.
Is there a driver/shaft combo that could give me more distance or am I better off just working on a better swing?
