    Hi Gang-

I am a pretty good putter (last summer I had 30 rounds in a row, putting under par). I currently use an OLD TA ZAAP.

NOW....I am in love the the look and feel of the Scotty Cameron. But I want it to have the same kind if  fit/balance as my ZAAP but perhaps a tad heavier than my ZAAP.

    1) Should I get a customized fitting?

    2) Where does this occur?

    3) How much customization does SC allow?

    4) Am I crazy?  (OK, I golf, I know I am crazy, but am I really Crazy???)

Thanks to all of you in advance, Merry Christmas.

    Fritz,

Check out the Scotty Cameron website for custom options - if you go to the custom shop page you will have a few options to choose from. Grips, shaft labels, head covers, stamps, paint fill, weights, refinishing, YOU NAME IT!

Be sure to check out the custom fitting page on the Titleist website and look for advanced/regional fitters that may have putter fittings as well. I would try to contact them and ask about putter fittings. I would definitely do this as they will have you in a putter that will give you the most confidence and hole more putts! I did this about two years ago and still use the putter that was fitted for me.

  3. Definitely make the move to SC. The custom options are seemingly endless.(loft, lie, shaft length, weights and also all aesthetic features as well, paint fill colors, engravable options, grip colors, head cover options, etc)

From a fitting perspective you will just need to make sure you settle on an SC with the right amount of toe hang so it works along the correct path for your stroke. Weights can be adjusted by you or a professional fitter. But, if you like your current putter but just feel it's time for an upgrade, get something similar to yours from a visual standpoint and start there.

I have a few SC's that I keep on hand in case I get too "handsy." A Newport 2 that is my putter 90% of the time and also a new Futura X5 with the counterbalance grip that will help take my hands out of it some if I go through a rough patch.

SC has a really solid website that can be extremely helpful in understanding his design philosophy and what each model is meant to accomplish for the golfer.

And yes, you're crazy like the rest of us!
