I'm hitting my AP2 4 iron about 205-210 yards.  I have a 913 19' Fairway metal that I have been hitting 225ish.  The gap between the two is just a little too much for me.  I really cant muscle up that 4 iron to reach out and touch the 215-220 mark, and I don't feel comfortable choking down on the 19', so I am contemplating adding a 3 iron or a 24' Hybrid.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Driver swing speed is about 112 and I'm a 5ish handicap. As of now, I have an extra wedge in the bag that I'm only using around the greens for flop shots, so taking it out won't change anything.  Any thoughts are appreciated!

    Thanks for the post.

First off, if you hit your 4i 205-210 and your 19F 225, that is actually close to an ideal gap. I always promoted about a 13-15 yard gap towards the top of the bag. This would ensure enough clubs towards the bottom to fill the 10 yard gaps with the wedges.

With that said, have you though about bending your current 4i 1 degree strong? This should give you a little more pop and close the gap. Or, you could always add a little loft to your current 19F by using the SureFit tour hosel.

If either of these options don't work, I would suggest seeing a local fitter and hitting both the 3i and 24H to find the right club to meet your needs.

    Hope this helps.

Bubba that is why I posted on here!  I never thought about bending the 4 iron.  That's a great idea.  I hit the 4 iron like John Daly hits the big dog.  Its my favorite club in my bag, an extra degree might just do it for me.

  4. I saw someone post the idea of tweeking the 4i one degree strong and it was like a huge lightbulb went off.. great thought for the right situation. Hate to lose a wedge out of a lineup that when hit as a full shot, fills a critical scoring gap. Top of the bag, comes up way less often than the short stuff...
