Grip diameter Titleist vs png

  1. I know the grip diameter of a Titleist factory grip is 0.920" (using a 58 grip on a 60 shaft). My question is would this be equivalent to png's white (standard) grip?

    Thanks

  2. Compared to eachother, yes. May need an extra wrap of tape with the "white" grips on a .600 shaft. However, in case you didn't know, the "white" grips are ribbed.

    David,

A derivative question for you....I have arthritis in my right hand (first and second knuckles) and through the course of a season it flares up from time to time and makes gripping the club a little painful and difficult.  I have small hands, so I currently use standard size new decade grips.  I'm thinking about trying a midsize grip on one clubs to see how it works, but I recall reading something years ago about how the size of the grip can affect the swing (but I can' really remember what the article said).  As a fitter, can you offer some insight on how the size of the grip can affect a persons swing (in this case slightly over normal size)?

    Thanks,

    Barry

    Hi David,

The size of the grip certainly effects feel. However, as a fitter, I have not found any quantifiable effect of grip size on swing dynamics. I know many people believe a larger grip reduces release, and vice versa, but I have yet to see any evidence that it is a drastic change.

I would recommend trying the mid size grips to see if they help with your arthritis.

    Hope this helps.

    Bubba and David,

Thanks for the information!  Since I have two sets of irons I will try the larger grip on one club from the older set to see how it feels.

    Thanks again,

    Barry
