    Hi All,

Short (5'4) golfer here.  10 handicap, and getting new irons this year with some fantasy football winnings.  I am currently woefully misfit to my current irons (way too upright, can't even swing the 5 iron unless off a tee).  My question is this, I was roughly fit into some png i25s I was hitting at -1.2, and purple which is 1.5 flat.  This looked great at address and I was making solid contact.

I then tried some AP2s and loved the feel (but they were all STD so the lie was off).  Comparing png and Titleist specs I see that to get the same lie angle I would need the AP2s ~2.5 flat.  From what I see on the specs you can only go 2 degrees flat which would mean I would need to go even shorter on the shafts, or risk breaking the club.  Is that true?  Or can they be ordered in the correct lie angles and then adjusted +4 or -2 from that point?

    Thanks,
    Bryan

I imagine that Titleist will officially answer your question but I want to share my experience with you.  I am 5'7" with a 17 handicap and I was fit into 714 AP2s last year at 3* flat.  I was told that Titleist would not go beyond 2* flat so my fitter settled on 2* flat from the factory with 0.5" taken off the shaft to get that last 1*.  I just got back from a golf school last week which confirmed my fitting so I trust my fit is correct; they still feel great even with my new swing mechanics.  I hope that you get some clarity on the AP2s as they are fantastic clubs.

    Thanks!

    Hi Stan,

Thanks for the feedback on your fitting!  Sounds like unless Titleist says otherwise I would have to take another .5 off the shaft length.  That might mean the AP2s are just not for me.

Hopefully Titleist will respond with something more positive!

    Hit 'em straight,
    Bryan

Hi Bryan,  Since the irons are forged, there is not really a problem with bending. Our max is 2°, but we will bend them 2.5° as long as the player signs off on the fact that bending chromed irons may leave bending marks on the hosel and that bending it more than two degrees possibly could cause crinkling in the chrome plating.  A question for you would be -  have you hit the AP2 irons with a comparable lightweight shaft at the length you desire and the fitting club set at 2 flat?  We would recommend seeing a fitter with a Titleist fitting system so that you can be sure you are getting the right head and shaft combination as well as the proper lie and length.  If you would like the recommendation of a fitter in your area, just let us know where you live or give us a call at 1-888-TITLEIST.

    Hi,

I have not been properly fit to the AP2s yet.  I am trying to hold out until I can hit off of real ground because I take a divot with most swings and want to feel the turf interaction (I live in MA, there's a lot of snow out there right now).  But I do plan on getting properly fit for whichever clubs I end up with.

Hi Bryan,  That sounds good!  I know it has been pretty cold and snowy over there.  One of our staff pros, Bob Beach, just conducted a  veterans clinic last weekend at Braintree GC at Braintree, MA.  Bob said that he thought attendance might have been off a little because people were still shoveling snow and clearing their roofs.:)  Let us know if we can help with a local fitter.  There are many good ones in MA.

    Hi Bryan,

I feel your NE weather pain! If it is in the budget, you cannot go wrong with a fitting at the Manchester Lane facility. I have been fortunate to have been fitted there twice and I cannot say enough!

Le's hope for a longgggggggggg season after this winter!
