For me, it would depend on how bad the misses are. I hit about 65% of my fairways, but when I miss, it's typically only about a few yards. If your misses are getting you into trouble, then maybe go with the length shaft that would provide better accuracy.

Did you score better with less length/more fairways or more length/less fairways?  You should go with whichever way you scored the best, IMHO.

I feel like that all depends on what courses you play. If you're losing a stroke 10-15% of the time from missing the fairway then I might chop it down to gain some control. However, 10 yds is basically a club length and hitting an 9 iron is generally easier than an 8 iron. So if you can miss the fairway and still give yourself a chance at par 10-15% of the time then I would say its worth it.

Again I believe this all comes down to your preference and the courses you play. Seeing a Clubfitter could really help determine the best length for you as well.Personally I chopped mine down 3/4 inch and couldn't be happier with the results. I feel more in control and really didn't lose any distance.

I play a driver that is slightly shorter as well. I don't feel like the extra 10y is worth finding less fairways. It's just my personal preference... for me, it doesn't make a difference if I'm hitting a 7 iron into the green vs a 6 iron. (Or whatever the case may be). Hope it helps...

I'd much rather be in the short grass. Some people may choose the distance if they're confident with their second shot, etc.. That's one of the great things with this great game. Many different ways to play. Whatever works to your advantage to shoot lower scores.

For myself I shorten any driver that I get to my desirable length.   In your case what ever length your scoring better is what length you should go with. 

Stay with the longer shaft, you can choke down on the shaft when the tee shot requires accuracy or play it at normal length for the extra distance when you need it.
