I just bought a 915f 18 degree 5 wood. I would like to use my shaft from the 913f 15 3 wood, the shaft from my 913f 3 wood is a tour AD di-6s, I paid a lot for this shaft upgrade it was ordered from Titleist for my 3 wood, the tipping instructions from graphite design call for .5 inch tip trim for a 3 wood and 1 inch for a 5 wood, I assume titleist trimmed the shaft .5 inches since it was ordered for a 3 wood. My question is, should I remove the adapter and trim it an additional .5 inch and re-install the adapter since I want to use it for my new 5 wood?..before I do this I just want some reassurance from a qualified titleist club fitter/maker, thanks.

Hi Craig - We would have tipped it 1" for your 3 wood, so if you want to stay with GDI tipping, you can just butt cut it to length.  If you were to order an 18° fairway from us, we would tip it 1.5".

Thank you Cathi,... May I ask why you tip it 1/2 inch more than GDI recommends?...also do you tip the driver I/2 inch?

Hi Craig, When we originally moved from a bore-thru hosel design to a standard bore, in order to maintain a continuity of feel, we originally tipped all drivers 1" and fairways even more.  As we moved to the 910 adjustable hosel design, we decreased the tipping to 1/2" on drivers and 1" + on the fairways.  We  have maintained that as standard tipping for us although, through blind testing, several shafts are now 0 tipping at standard build.  All the shafts that we offer can be built from no tipping up to 1.5" tipping.

Thx Cathi!  I was just going to call and ask this question.  Moving my 7S DI to my 3w 913Fd and was wondering if another 1/2" was standard.  Appreciate the info I/we can find on here!!!  Keep up the great work.  Thx.

Hi Phil,  You don't say what the DI 7S was originally built for?

Built for either a 910 or 913D, purchased used so not 100% known.

Hi Phil,  Both the 910 or 913 driver shaft would have been tipped 1/2" and assuming you have a 913 F tip, you would want to tip it an additional 1/2" if you want a standard installation and tipping for the 913 fairway.
