Hi Team Members;    Just got fitted for new 915d fairway woods. These are on order, very impresed with these.  Also had a fitting for new 714 AP1's.  I am hesitant about these, as I would be going from the 710's with R300 shafts to A-flex fiberglass.  Might be mental thing.  I would sure like to hear from those of you who have been faced with the same situation and your outcome, good bad or indifferent.   I also had thought about going to a second fitter to double check the results.  All the numbers on Trackman were good, But nowhere other than A golf dome to see what ball flight is in actuality.  Thanks to All and have a good season. Sure I will once we get rid of the 4' snow banks here in NW  Pa.

I like to think I'm getting better with age.. Actually, I had 712s with the GD 65g A-flex but over time I've felt they were whippy, and Manchester fit me into the KK 85g R-flex. We didn't get to the Dynalite R300, but I did look at the steel TT 95 in R flex. I liked the TT 95, but the fitter preferred the KK 85 with the longer irons. So we compromised on the KK in 5-PW and wedges in TT 95.

You may want to check out Aerotech steelfiber iron shafts, some of my friends play them and love them.

I felt some whippiness in the KK65, and fitter had me grip down 1", and this eliminated a little of it.  I aware this changes the swingweight.  I'm checking on the Project X shafts with other fitters in the area.  I am very happy with my wedges, so not looking beyond the PW.

    lee,

a couple of years ago, my swing coach thought i should switch from dg r300 to graphite.  i ended up with project 5.5 (95g) graphite in my irons and subsequently (with a few swing tweaks) added back the 20 yards that i had lost.  oh, and i'm only 42.

thought i'd never play graphite in my irons, but i'm a believer...plus i'm sure it'll help my tennis elbow.  good luck with your season!

  6. Lee,

Sometimes people do see a couple of different fitters. You want to be comfortable with the fitting. Outdoor fittings are the best. I'm currently in OH, so, we're lucky enough to enjoy this "heat wave". The warm weather's slowly coming. Perhaps you could hold off on the irons until it's nice enough to do a fitting outdoors.

On the other hand, if you were fitted by an Authorized Titleist Fitting Pro, using TrackMan, and the numbers were good, I'm sure the fitter had you in the absolute best setup for YOU.

Obviously, steel and graphite shafts are different. Mainly, weight (although they do make heavier graphite shafts). Usually, when people think about flexes, they think: X-Stiff, Stiff, Reg., A, and L. However, shaft performance varies. One companies R flex may play more like an S flex. An A flex may play like an R flex. Or, some X flex shafts play more like an S flex.

Hope this helps a tad. If you have anymore questions, please, feel free to ask. Best wishes.

Oh Crap,  There goes the heat wave!!!   I haven"t even tried ohter Mfg. clubs in about 4 years.  Kinda stuck on Titleist and what they have to offer in the full fitting cart.  I have swung other guys clubs and know there is a diference in the shafts.  I am going to take the advice to possibly wait for better weather.  But will call around on different shaft offerings.  If all else fails will see if my fitter can get the project X in.   Thankx     Lee

  8. Hope everything works out. Let us know how things go.

You're on the right track using Trackman results. I was using 710 AP2's S300 steel. I decided to go with the 712 AP1's, but I didn't know whether to go stiff or graphite. After using trackman, I tried steel and graphite shafts, regular and stiff. The graphite with the regular shaft performed the best...so I have the 712 AP1's graphite regular. But with the Driver and fairway woods, are still stiff. I'm age 59 and yes it was a mental thing.

I have A flex on my driver (TM 2K7 Burner 13 draw but shortened to 44.5"), 910F 17 and 21, and 910H 27. My 11 wood (SH III), 34H (SQ 7-34) and AP1 9-PW are regular, and the Vokeys are Wedge flex. Works well for me. This is a bonafide senior bag. I am 58.
