So I just set an appointment for a club fitting on Saturday at a golf course that is listed by Titleist as an Advanced Fitting Center and one of the top locations in Northern California. They have the option of both a standard fitting for $49 and Trackman fitting for $129. The person I spoke with told me that they typically only do Trackman fittings for woods and that it's not needed for an iron fitting. He said that if I wanted to spend the money, I could, but that he would recommend the standard option with one of their fitters. Does this seem right?

Hi John, Yes, Haggin typically does not use a monitor for their standard fittings, and that would be fine if you have narrowed it down to a shaft and want to compare heads, feel through turf, etc.  If you are trying to gap your clubs, want comparison spin numbers between shafts/heads, a Trackman can be useful as it will tell you comparison numbers.  If you have a choice (one of the Trackman bays are open) when you get there, go a little early and talk with your fitter about each process and see what will work best for you. Or see if you can talk with your fitter on the phone today and go over each type of fitting.

Thank you Cathi! I've hit the AP2's at my local club and they are the leading contenders, but am really going in starting from scratch. I would like to try a couple of other clubs, but if I choose the AP2's I was assuming at that point they would try different shafts and gap the clubs as part of the fitting.
  4. I agree with Cathi, Trackman is a great tool to confirm performance numbers of shafts and heads to identify differences. If you are just trying to compare feel or how a club looks at address then trackman is not needed.  I typically ONLY use trackman though for all my fittings since I do both at a fitting however you might only need one aspect.   It is always worth the small cost IMHO.

    Good Luck!
