On the 9th of this month, I was able to be fitted for fairway woods by Ted, the Northern California Titleist Rep and Fitter. The fitting had been arranged by Chris of Titleist. to say I was happy about my experience was an understatement. Ted is a very personable guy who had arranged with the Pro at The Bridges Golf Club, Steve Watanabe to use his fitting studio. the walls of the bay that we used were covered with shafts and clubheads. Ted set up the Trackman hardware and opened up the door of the Bay so I could hit out onto the range. So thats what I did. Hit ball after ball after ball with Ted changing shafts and clubheads. We talked about my game or lack thereof and he patiently watched me hack away. I know that I could possibly be a fitters worst nightmare-a player who hits inconsistent poor shots and asks the fitter to recommend a club. But Ted managed to stifle a laugh or a groan as I bounced the clubhead off the mat or ducked hooked another 3 wood 40 yards off target.
In the end, Ted performed a miracle and found a club that even I could hit a nice consistent draw about 190-195 yards. A 16.5 degree wood. What used to be called a 4 wood. He did a great job helping me find a club that I know will improve my game.
This was a fantastic experience and I recommend anyone get fitted. Thank you Ted and Chris. You guys are great!
