I went to the advertised Titleist Demo Day for the new clubs yesterday at Rivertowne Country Club in Mt Pleasant, SC and as usual Billie set me up with the right hybrid. Was interested in a 816H1 19* with the Rogue stiff shaft which he let me try and I hit it pretty well as expected. I have that shaft on my driver and on my 915h 18*. Then he presented me with a Fujikura Motore Speeder HB 8.8 Tour Spec in a stiff shaft. Bombs away. Straight, high and long. I will probably play it at 20* loft and set my 915h 18* at 17.25 and my 913h at 24* 23.25. This should be a pretty strong hybrid set up. I am very pleased with the way the ball comes of the head and the results. I was surprised how easy the club was to hit and the results. Accuracy is the key with the 816s. My next stop was at my favorite shop to place my order. Funny part was my wife walks in after she saw my car outside and kidding told them not to sell me any new clubs. Of course I bought the club! We had just gotten back from Hawaii and did not play golf there or make any major golf purchases. She has good sense of humor.
I hope that in the near future that Titleist will consider making an H1 with a 15 or a 17 degree loft. I find their hybrids much easier to hit and much more versatile than the fairways and I can hit my 913h 16.25* about 15 yards short of my 14.25* fairway.
