    Hello,

I am currently looking to upgrade my old irons and replace them with hopefully the new 716 range of irons.  I have had fittings before but only with woods etc.  I am a 4 handicap now and have found all the benefits of trying to make sure distance gaps between clubs are reliable and realistic.  I have spoken to Celtic Manor who have advised me that I will only be able to hit a 7 iron in each type of head and various shaft combinations.  This has rather disappointed me as in my opinion it is not a "true custom fit".

One of my reasons to change is that I'm looking to get a bit more launch into my lower 4/5 irons.. And if need be.. Swap out the 4 with a new titleist rescue club.  Simply looking at swing/ball data of a 7 iron isn't going to give me the required feedback I am looking to gain from a fitting session!

If you are trying to get golfers into custom fitting.. Which I agree is of great benefit.. Why are you limiting what I can be fit into?  Maybe I want ap2 4 5 and 6 iron and then 7 to wedge in cb's?  How does a normal golfer go about achieving this level of fitting as £800 is a large investment to only get fit into a 7 iron!!??

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you for your comments. We are early into the launch of 716 and 816, but our National Fitting Centre at St Ives has additional equipment to provide this element of the fitting. If you would like to experience the performance of the full sets or T-MB or 816 gapping solutions, then the best solution would be to book an appointment at St. Ives.

    I hope this helps.

    Many Thanks,

    Hannah

If you are looking for a high launch in the 4/5 irons, I would suggest that you try out the T-MB's. I know I was pleasantly surprise at the great trajectory that these offered when demoing the new range of irons.

Thanks for the reply... My point was really that in order to work out what I actually need I would need to actually try the 4/5 irons with different shafts to get actual data to compare with the tmb's in the first place.  Even more so is that I would need to sort out gapping etc myself... Just thought we might of progressed in the whole one type of fitting fits all mould... Not expecting tour like treatment..just would of liked to have looked at each club individually to sort out my distance gaps.

another thing is that whilst you can book an appointment directly with Celtic manor.. You can't do so with st Ives .. Have to go through my pro.. Who tells me there is a long wait.

not sure I get the whole early into the release statement as surely you just need the 4-PW heads and the shafts would be available due to the various shaft combinations you would of tried a month ago in the 714 ap2's?
