I need to upgrade my hybrids. Was wondering if I should match my hybrid lofts to those of irons. I play of with titleist 712 ap2 irons. I have also noticed that the length of hybrids are slightly longer than respective economies irons. Help me understand where to start.

That's a starting point. Usual rule of thumb is to start replacing the iron you lose distance/control from the last iron you hit well. Getting fit from that point to add hybrids based on covering the distance gaps from your last iron to your first fairway is your goal The new 816s can decrease in loft by a full degree or increase in loft by 2 degrees, so there is enough overlap to cover your distances as you need.

Art, its going to be difficult to match iron lofts with the 816 Hybrids. Simple reason, irons have a 3* difference where the

H1's have 2* difference. However, because the hybrids are 1/2" longer,(the longer shaft should compensate 1* weaker loft) you

    could get away with it.

Ex. - having a 25* H1 to replace your 4 iron and a 21* H1 to replace your 3 iron could do the trick. The

yardage gap should be consistent with those of irons and the versatility of the Hybrid will give you a club that will

produce more shots than those of a long iron. (after all they are the original "Rescue" club)

It really all depends on your bag.

    I carry a 21* 915H instead of a 3 iron for the versatility. I carry a T-MB 4 iron 2* strong instead of a standard 4 iron. 5-PW are the

new 716 AP2's which are all 2* strong.

So, I say again, it all depends on what you are more comfortable hitting and what looks good to you at address.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Go golfing!
