  1. So im getting ready to purchase new irons, I've always used titleist and I've always used the x100 dynamic golds. But I've been hearing all the hype about the KBS C-Taper. does anyone have any advice or thoughts on what i might notice switching to the X flex 130g C-Taper, as apposed to my old faithful x100?

My advice is to get fitted. Don't buy into all of the marketing stuff. Experience the shafts for yourself through a thorough fitting session. I actually play KBS shafts because they were identified as the best shaft during my fitting but everyone is different. The swingweight and feel of a TT Dynamic Gold can also be significantly different than KBS. Please don't make the mistake of not getting fitted. In the end you will much happier.

You can also look at the Titleist custom options catalog on their site. There you can select the two shafts and then compare their "expected" performance on a simple graph that is populated. From what I can remember, the KBS C-Taper has a higher ball flight than the X100 but don't hold me to that. Like said above, spend the time and get fitted properly. Totally worth it.

I tried the KBS C taper last weekend. What else do you do when it snows?

That being said, they spec out pretty well on the Flightscope. Still haven't seen them off of real turf in wind, etc.

I recently hit the KBS C Taper when I was getting fitted for the AP2's. I liked them but I felt I wasn't able to control the ball as consistent with them as apposed to the Dynamic Gold AMT Tour Issue, which gave me better Trackman numbers. The KBS went much higher and spun more in the air. I think its very swing dependent in terms of what kind of weight, ball flight and spin you are looking for. Getting fitted it always worth it. If you near Carlsbad, CA or Boston, Titleist Performance Institute is the best. Its heaven for golf nuts. If not, Titleist has a lot of advanced fitters in their network that will go beyond hitting the irons and shafts with a simulator at a store. I would suggest going to one of those. They will have so many more shaft options, flight scope technology, lie/loft machines, and you can hit as many balls as you want rather then the usual 8-10 at a store while other people wait behind you.
