  1. I have had 3 back surgeries and in a way lucky to still be able to play. In no way the same golfer i once was. I still shoot an occasional 75 but as high as 95 also. Looking to buy new 716 AP1 with graphite. Impossible to test all shafts available. Need help getting height on longer irons and i have trouble getting through to finish on some days. Hit 7 iron about 160. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks...

Go to a professional fitter who has a doplar radar machine .e.g.,Trackman or nFlight, etc. and find out what flex is best for your swing. The numbers do not lie and you will be able to see for your self what the best shaft is for your swing. The cost is minimal and well worth it if you are a serious golfer. I went from a stiff steel shaft in my irons to a graphite Project X 4.5 shaft and instantly gained a club to a club and a half with a 7 iron used as the base iron for the fitting. If I had to guess I was expecting to go from a stiff down to a regular and never dreamed that I would hit the ball further with a senior flex shaft.

I had serious cervical spine surgery. I play all graphite Titleist (driver, fairway, hybrids, AP1, and 54 Vokey) except the 58 wedge. They work great. Not so heavy like the steel shafts. Not clangy when you don't hit it square. Have not noticed any wobble, which used to big an issue with graphite shafts.

I also switched to the ad65i shafts in my ap1's. I love them, I've tried every shaft combo I think but with my 70mph clubhead speed with a 7 iron these are the best by far. Try the graphite, you'll be glad you did.
