    Hey Team,

I need your advice. I'm looking to add hybrids to my bag for the first time. I currently have the 716 AP2's, which I would love to add a 3 and 4 816H1 hybrid, but I need help selecting the loft.

    The Ap2 3, 4 and 5 irons lofts are at 21, 24 and 27.

What hybrid lofts should I go with to replace the 3 and 4 irons?

Do I match the iron loft with the hybrid loft?

I understand about being fit , but there has to be an easier way to match irons and hybrids.

The upside to the lofts is you can match 816s to your distance gaps and not to just the iron lofts. If you have a 3W and a 21 iron, you likely have a bigger gap to that than you would have from a 5I to 4I and a 21 H. I carry a 25 and 21 and can use a 5I and the 25 set to 24 and the 21 set to 20, or drop the 5I and set them to 22 and 26. Depends on the par 3 distances.

Thanks, Don. I like the combination of going with the 21 and 25 816's and decreasing each loft by 1*.

What's your opinion on going with the 21* 816 (playing to 20) and going with a T-MB 4 iron? Is the T-MB easy to hit?

    Grindelwald,

not only the loft is important to chose, the shaft is even more important.
this you can only find out during a fitting!

In my mind, if you really want to get the best matching hybrid, you have no cahnce to get it without fitting

    Robert,

This is one of those decisions where you can't lose - it's literally a question of six of one and half a dozen.... sort of thing. What you don't indicate is how you want to optimize the functionality of the hybrids. The key is the 14 club limit. You might want to think of mixing and matching depending on the course or even what you are feeling on a given day.

The 19 degree Hybrid has a lot of functionality and might replace your 3 iron or you can do a straight 21- 21 swap. Giving yourself a nice interval between the two also makes sense. Either a 19/23 or a 21/25 works; depending on the type of distances you are facing.

Treat your decision as a fun means of becoming a better shotmaker; not as a burden. It should be a big improvement to your game. Enjoy!!!!
