I recently switched shafts to Project X 6.0 after a long time playing Dynamic Gold. Have to say, what a nice and confident feeling I get with them. Now I find myself wanting the same feel with my wedges. Unfortunately there is no Project X that I can find that is meant for wedges. How would I go about fitting iron shafts to my wedges?

I have read a couple of options, one is to place softer shaft, which I'm not a big fan of that idea. The other thing I read was to place stiffer shafts one or two times stiffness level from an 8 iron into them. Has anybody done something like this and how if so, how much feel do you preserve towards those wedges and spin changes?

Allan, I made the same switch to Project X 6.0 after playing DG my whole life. I love it in my irons. My Titleist fitter said when going to my wedges he wanted me to stay with a softer wedge flex. The exception was if you hit mostly full shots with a particular wedge then you should stay with the Project X in that wedge. I have had no problems with spin with the softer wedge shafts.

    Hope this helps,

Last year I ordered a sm5 wit KBS tour shafts from Golf Smith. I believe it is just the PW shaft feels great and works just fine

Do you notice a difference with ball flight?

Project X does have a PW shaft which I believe is 37.5". I play the 6.0 shaft in my irons and I purchased 3 extra PW shafts so all of my Vokey wedges have the same shaft (with a minor difference in length). I found they play very consistent to my iron shafts and perform great. You can also send your wedges into the Vokey WedgeWorks to have Project X shafts installed in the flex and length that you want!

Ok. That's partially what I was thinking on, simply placing the PW Project X 6.0 on two of them. I did however wanted to see if there was an increasing spin option for my 58. Kinda like a DG Spinner, that's how I found the alternative of the slightly stiffer flex shaft for 8 iron. All I have read about it points to turning it into an increase in spin and lower ball flight.

Has anybody experienced doing this or something similar?

    Allan,

I play PX 6.5s in my irons. I ordered my SM5s last year with the same PX 6.5 shafts (+ 1/2" long as to match the rest of my set). Best decision I've made! They play sooo smooth!
