I finally decided to go and get fitted for new irons, so last week I visited an advanced fitting center near me. This was the first time I ever got fitted for clubs using a launch monitor and I have to say that I had a lot of fun (and learned a lot)! I like the fact that the fitter had me hit golf balls on the launch monitor with my own clubs (swoosh Pro Combo) first, and then he took the time to discuss the information (swing speed, smash factor, carry, dispersion pattern, spin rate, carry, etc…) from the launch monitor with me. Then, it was time to have some fun! The fitter had me hit the Titleist 716 AP1s and AP2s, 816 H1 and H2, and the Vokey SM6 wedges. As I hit each club, the fitter discussed the launch monitor numbers with me in relation to the numbers from my own clubs. In the end, I went with the clubs that I thought fit me the best based on feel and what I was seeing on the launch monitor. Here’s what ending up purchasing…….

Titleist AP1s 5-PW with KBS Tour Stiff shafts

Titleist H1 #3,4 with Rogue Stiff shafts

    Titleist SM6 50, 55, 60 M grind with KBS Stiff shafts

Now for the hard part……waiting for my new clubs to arrive! I can't wait to use them on the course!

Thanks, Masamitsu! My AP1's 5-PW arrived on Friday, but I'm still waiting for my 816 H1 hybrids and SM6 wedges. I'm hoping that they will arrive sometime this week. As soon as I get the rest of my clubs I'll post some pics of my bag.

I had a professional fitting done on New Years eve and it was an eye opening experience. I am a senior golfer who had lost some distance through the aging process. The clubs I had been using had been fitted by a big box store rep who had me try different lies, lengths and shaft flex. I was playing a steel stiff shaft in my irons and a regular graphite shafts in my driver and 3 wood and hybrid. I walked away with ordering a set of new irons that had had a senior or light flex graphite shafts, longest iron a 6 and a 5 and 4 hybrid. New driver in a 12 degree loft with a senior flex. I am now hitting the ball about the same distance as I did 10 years ago.

Nice, Carl!!! I'm glad to hear that you're hitting those same distances that you hit 10 years ago! You made a smart move by going to get professional fitted again and it definitely paid off for you. I'm hoping that it pays off for me too! As soon as the rest of my clubs arrive, I'm going to hit the course and see if getting fitted and switching clubs paid off for me too!
  8. Fitting made me more confused. Two different fitters not able to clarify if the XP90 or DG AMT R300 would be the better choice. Not much difference in ball flight. Feel the same to me. Decision time on a thin basis now...

My Titleist Hybrids (816 #3 and #4) finally arrived this afternoon! I just can't wait to get out on the course later on today! Now that all of my clubs have arrived, I thought I share a couple pics of my bag.
