  1. I am interested in getting my first fitted irons and am looking at 716 AP1 irons. I am a legitimate 12-14 Handicap and am 54 years old. I am currently swinging png I3 irons that are 15+ years old. I want to know what I can expect swinging the 716 AP1 irons in improved performance. I'm also wondering what kind of shafts I should be looking at in these iron. I have been swinging a regular flex iron but wonder what type of shaft I should be looking at in my irons since I anticipate these irons lasting me at least another 10 years. Should I be looking at senior shafts at this point? Graphite vs. Iron? Should I be looking at a full set of irons? Currently really only swing a Lob, Sand, Wedge, 9-6 Irons with my png I3 set. I use a Utility 5, Utility 4, 7 Wood, 4 Wood, and Swing a png G30 Driver. I hit my Lob Wedge 30-50, Sand Wedge 50-80 Regular Wedge 80-105, 9 Iron 105-125, 8 Iron 125-140, 7 Iron 140-150, Utility 5 150-165, Utility 4 165-175, 7 Wood 175-185, 4 Wood 185-200, Driver 225-250. Again, let me know the advantages of being fitted for clubs, how many irons I should be looking at giving my current difficulties with swinging an iron above a 6 iron and getting through the ball, and what kind of shaft I should be looking at to maximize performance given my profile??? I'm also interesting in Vokey Wedges and would like to hear about performance with these wedges.

I wouldn't go in with any preconceived idea of what you should be looking at as far shafts & heads. Your fitter will probably have you hit some shots with your clubs, then select a head/shaft combo as a starting point. The key here is to let your fitter walk you through the process and see what the outcome is.

Best of luck as your go through the process!

One of the advantages of Titleist is you can buy 1 club or 10 clubs at the same per price. Go with a fitter and let him find the best combination. The fitter can set you up with as many or few clubs as you need. There are many more options than just regular and senior flex shafts. You'll be matched up to the head and shaft that provides an optimal launch for you swing. Over time, I have found that getting fit from putter from driver works better than my empirical assumptions.
