I like to see if I can get some suggestions / input for a new set I am going to purchase.

I'm was just fitted for a new set of AP2s and ended as the best choice the stock AMT shaft and was going to order 5-PW. I am not sure what to do with about the 4 iron since it isn't the easiest club to hit.

I did go back to the store today and hit the AP2 4 iron in the net with their launch monitor. My avg swing speed was 87 mph and launch was 15.3 degrees both a little better than I expected.

I then tried a 3 iron in the T-MB (they didn't have a 4). My launch was 14 degrees but swing speed was the same and carry was the same as the AP2 4 iron.

The last club I tried was an AP1 4 iron with the XP-95 shaft it launch higher 16.8 degrees but did not carry as far, almost 10 yards shorter than the AP1.

Any suggestions are welcome. I'm tempted to just order the AP2 4 iron and see how it goes. Any comment what would happen if I bought the AP1 with AMT shaft to match the AP2 or comments on the T-MB?

    Thank you very much.

  2. Honestly man i think it all goes off what you are comfortable hitting. With that, i mean it depends on the distance and what kind of roll you are expecting and your capes in regards to how well you hit each club. Personally I roll 5-PW with a 3 Hybrid but that's just me, I can't hit a 4 Iron that well.

I received my 716 T-MB 4 iron, with the DG S300 AMT shaft, a few weeks ago. I'm using it to replace my AP2 4-iron. It looks great at address and blends with the AP2's very well, unlike the AP1, with its large face offset. The 716 T-MB also swings very easily, launches higher and is about 7-10 yrds longer than my AP2. I think it's going to allow me to remove a hybrid and add another wedge to my bag. I like it so much I am considering a 5-iron version. I highly recommend the 716 T-MB.

Sounds like you need to try a hybrid to fill a gap above a 4 iron to your next club, based on the T-MB only equal to the AP2. The 716s will be easier to hit, so a 4 iron in AP2 may work better for you than previous sets.

Thanks for the inputs. I decided to order T-MB 4 iron and will let everyone know how it goes in the next week or so.
