I recently visited the PGA Super Store in AZ. I learned that my stiff driver for my 910 is (72 gms) is no longer suitable for me. It appears that a tested lighter shaft and regular flex could perform as well as buying a new club. My club head speed is 90 and my ball speed is 130. The golf store "advised" me that a new shaft is throwing good money after bad because my driver head is technologically behind. Please advise.

    Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, Jason Dufner is still gaming a 910 driver. Big box stores are in the business of selling clubs (even though most have repair services and such). Sometimes upgrading to a different shaft is all that is required. Before you actually make the purchase though, you might want to consider finding a Titleist fitter that will work with you outdoors to "verify" that you actually need a new shaft.
  3. Marc...I think it depends on what you want out of your game. A lighter shaft in your 910 would work, especially if it gets you a better game. Certainly, the new models (like the 915) offer some nice technological advances. But even pro's play older models. Not every upgrade is a true upgrade. As is commonly mentioned here, if you get the chance, hit the new models with a shaft you're interested in. Test it against your 910 (with a lighter shaft). If the numbers warrant, go for the upgrade. If not, a simple shaft change might just be the best money spent.

It's fun to test and explore. Enjoy!
