  1. Hi,

I was fitted for a lie of 1 degree upright in my AP2 irons, and have recently bought SM6 54M and 60S wedges.

I was wondering whether it is best to have the same lie in the wedges as in the longer irons?

An independent fitter recommended potentially going slightly flatter in the wedges as the leading edge can sit flatter to the ground, and also because the face is opened so flatter would assist?

I just wanted some other opinions/advices before adjusting.

    Many thanks

  2. Yes, keep them the same or add one more degree upright (thus 2 degrees upright total) if you are really tall. I am 6 feet 6 inches and I am one degree upright in my irons and 2 degrees upright in my wedges...completely personal preference.

My 56 and 60 are 2 degrees upright. It just seems that I choke down on them most of the time playing finesse shots and bending more upright helps to sole the club properly.

One other way is if you already have the set of irons, you can have them all checked to further fit the lie individually to your swing and then you can bend them accordingly.
Each time I send for a set of irons, I'll ask for what's close to my fit, and then bend them further if needed when I get them. All of my wedges and irons are done this way.
Although, this is not what everyone does nor is it a popular approach, it is an option if you want to get as close as you want.
  5. While i fitting people i suggest that they go 1 degree less on there wedges as per the instructions from my Titleist sales rep. So for you 1 degree up on AP2 and standard on wedges. Good Luck

I was recently fitted for my new AP1s and SM6s. Same shafts and lies. Love the set ups. Not having the bumps in the road I use to have. Changed over from 714 AP2s. At my age (will be 70 in September), needed the accuracy and distance. The clubs are something, am gaining a lot of confidence and most of all the handicap dropping. My buddy who is a certified fitter says it takes around 2000 strikes of the ball before your break in a new set. I am trying to get there before the summer/fall tournament season gets here. Will have to give Chris92009 credit for this change. See you in June, in Hilton Head, Chris.

I am 2 degrees upright in my irons, and added one degree to my gap and sand wedges, but my lob is standard.
