I am playing the Titleist 913 D3 driver and fairway metals. I choke up about an inch on the grip so the club sets up square and I have better control of the club during the swing. the results are okay. I was wondering if I cut one inch off the shaft, what will happen, as far as flex, swing weight, trajectory, etc. The shaft is the Diamana D+ 72 stiff.

  2. If you cut from the butt end you may lose some distance but you'll gain a little control. Swing weight should drop a point or two but flex and kickpoint will remain the same. If you cut from the tip it'll stiffen the shaft

If you cut it down, you will lose control. Having that extra inch at the top is going to allow you to control the club more by choking down. If you were to cut the shaft down, you would be holding it at the top of the club, and therefore you would lose control. The distance should not be too much different, but it is still worth it to have more control.

If it is working choking up stay with it or go see a fitter and let him show you how it will effect your concerns.
  5. I do not believe much will happen in terms of flex etc... however you will make better impact with the ball...I do the same thing with my driver.
