I have a 15 and 19 degree 980f. I like the heads and haven't found anything I want to change to, but I'd still like to alter the performance. They have the stock 4873 shaft in S. I want to shorten the clubs and get a higher ball flight with less roll, to change them basically into long approach clubs.
I ordered some Aldila NVS 75 shafts in S. (I don't generally like really lightweight shafts, so I don't want anything lighter than this.) So my question has to do with how to cut the shafts and possibly weight the head. Aldila recommends cutting 1" off the tip for fairway woods. Would this still be a good recommendation for a bore-through head?
The stock length of the club is 43" I believe, and I'd like to take off at least 1", maybe even as much as 1.5". How would you recommend cutting the shaft and weighting the head to keep the swingweight the same, with about the same overall stiffness, and retain the softer tip for the higher ball flight that the NVS was designed for? thanks.
