  1. TO: Cathi, Titleist Club Concierge I carry a 22 hanicap was wondering if I would benefit from a custom fitting. My ball flight usually goes left to right, however when things are right I can it it straight and long. I was fitted for a Titleist driver that I can't hit to same my life (a waste of money???). I love the game but it has been extremely frustrating. So, would a "hack" like me benefit a fitting at the Manchester facility and would the clubs be fitted to my swing and NOT what my swing should be? Also, I was think the AP 2 might be the game imrpovement irons that I have been looking for....

The only way to improve is I think to both go to a Titleist fitter and hopefully they will also be an teacher as well who can advise you as to refitting the driver and what irons would best fitt you I am on older golfer who figured out on my own what I should play and was totally wrong! After taking some lessons and being refit I am enjoying golf 100 percent more as I'm sure you will also Titleist is the best at product info fitting and great products so don't be mis lead by company's that make promises they can't keep just want to sell you their lastest and greatest and then in three months bring out something greater! In any case you will enjoy golf much more if you consider what I have said good luck!

Regardless of the handicap, recommend being fitted for new clubs. I just got refitted for a new set of 716 AP1s and had been fitted for 714 AP2s in 2013. Numbers had changed since then. Hitting the new clubs better than the old set.

I would highly recommend getting a fitting from a Titleist Certified Fitter and if possible, do it at a location where you can hit out into a range with a trackman capturing the stats. If you cannot hit the driver, you may need to have it tweaked and the fitter could probably double check that out for you. It would be probably helpful to take your trackman data sheet that you got from your original fitting with you when you see a new fitter. He can review the data to see what has changed perhaps in your swing path, spin rate, launch angle, etc...
As for the irons - my personal recommendation would be the AP1's. They are a little more forgiving that the AP2's and they are working very well for me. (I also play to a 6).

Hi Roger, A good club fitting is usually beneficial for most players as it will help them be more consistent players and eliminate a variable.

If you are working with a PGA pro on your swing, you may want to wait until the majority of swing changes have been completed before you go for your fitting.
Club fitters are going to fit for your current swing, not your future swing.
On the driver - if you were fit for it, we would recommend that you go back to your fitter and let him or her know that you are struggling with it.
On the irons - between the AP1's and AP2's, the AP1's are the more forgiving model. Give us a call at 888-TITLEIST if you have any questions.
  6. Well, I have scheduled my fitting on August 4th at 1:30 at the Manchester Lane facility. I am already getting nervous, but I am excited to finally have a quality set of sticks that are made for me and my swing. I will you posted.
