  1. Hello,

I have been using Dynamic Gold R300 for my Vokey wedges. I am trying to go for lighter shaft with 105115g weight range. Some of the options are, DG XP 105 DG Pro KBS Tour etc.

What are the popular options, and has anyone used any of these ? Any recommendation would be appreciated.

    BKim,

Just to volunteer some information and experience, but not necessarily an advise: I've always played S300 on my Vokeys (50, 54, 58), and also on all my irons, however my irons are 1 step down or 1 step weaker.

Just very recently, I made a change in shaft. I still play steel shafts, but I went with the NS Pro Zelos7 for my irons (5&6 716 T-MB & 716 7-PW CB) which are about 70 grams in weight and they definitely compete with graphite shafts in weight, though the steel has a better performance, I think.

So when I ordered my Vokey SM6's, I asked for XP 95 in regular to test and pair up with my current irons' shaft.

In my opinion, the shafts are okay and works well for what I want to do and what I can do with them. I have had them for a month now and have had many opportunities and practices with them and at least 6 or 7 rounds with them. I am very satisfied, however, the actions are different between the two steel manufacturers. The weights are slightly heavier on the XP 90 for what I'm trying to accomplish and to keep within uniformity in strength or flex. Needless to say, I will be having them replaced with the same shafts like my irons.

Come to think of it, I read here in a thread Q&A with Bob Vokey around December, that tour players pair up their wedge shafts with a slightly lighter weight & flex than their irons shaft.

Good luck with your decisions- do keep us to date.

    Thanks.

I recently purchased the SM6 50.08 and 56.14 F grind with XP105 s300 shafts. I had previously had the XP95 s300 shafts in my irons set and was using standard s200 shafts in my SM5s. My new AP1 and Vokey shafts all match and are working well. I like the heavier shafts. My fitter did changed the loft on the 50.08 to a 51.09. My wedge set up is now pw - 43, W - 47, 51.09, 56.14 which is working well for me. The shafts, according to the Titleist fitter is very similar to the KBS shaft. I hit both in the fitting and this one worked best for me. The weight has a lot to do with the height of the ball. Go to clubs on this site and the types of shafts and it will give you an explanation of each shaft. This might help you.
