So I was finally able to go through the Titleist Thursdays fittings program, after my first appointment had to be moved due to a work conflict. This was my first true club fitting that I was going to go through, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I received a confirmation call from the fitter in the morning and was all set for the afternoon fitting. When I arrived for the fitting I got to warm up with some range balls before getting on to the Trackman with the ProV1's. The fitter began the fitting with getting some baseline numbers with my current clubs. After a few baseline swings, he suggested I go with the AP2's in stiff because of how high I was hitting the ball with my current set. Being the not so great ball striker I am, we transitioned over to AP1's. The tweaks to the iron's came shortly after some swings with the AP1's. It was awesome to be able to see the club adjustments being made and explaining what the adjustments would do to the ball flight, etc. More tweaks came after some more swings with the AP1's, including the suggestion of a combo set of AP1 long irons and AP2 short irons in to PW. After even a few more swings, I was eventually fitted into an all AP1 set with one inch longer shafts and the Dynamic Gold X100 shaft (around 100-101 swing speed), 2 degrees flat. When we finally got the right set up, everything felt amazing and the results definitely showed.
After I got my final iron specs, there was still time in between my spot and the next time spot, so I asked if I could hit some drivers on the monitor and the fitter said yes. Started with the 915 D2 in a 9.5 degree X stiff Fujikura Speeder 757 Evo Tour Spec (swing speed about 120, ball speed about 150-160). My spin numbers, launch, and ball flight were still crazy high, so we went to the 8.5 degree 915 D4 with the same shaft. Again the ball flight and spin were too high so we moved to the 915 D3 in the same shaft. And of course, I ended up being THAT lefty that needed the 7.5 degree which was not on hand. Got the final specs dialed in and ended up in a 7.5 degree 915 D3 in the A3 setting on the SureFit.
Long story short: It was a great fitting experience and I want to thank Titleist for hosting these events and giving all the players out there the opportunity to get fit for their products. It goes to show that Titleist has great customer service and they go above and beyond for their customers! It was an awesome experience for me and I would highly encourage anybody looking into the Titleist Thursdays program to do it! Also wanted to say my fitter Jimmy McQuiston for also going above and beyond what I expected to get me in to the right setup!
Thanks again Titleist!
