From what I understand swing weight is the "perceived" weight of the club to the golfer. It is expressed with a letter and number combination A-F with 10 increments using numbers 0-9 with A0 being the lightest and F9 being the heaviest. Total weight is different and is the total weight of the club measured in grams. As far what is correct for swing weight I believe the determining factor is what feels right to the individual golfer. It's all a personal thing as far as I'm aware. My personal preference is for the wedges to feel heaviest, irons a little lighter and then hybrids/fairways/driver to feel lightest. I know players that like all their clubs to feel the same and others that don't even think about it. Hope this helps.

Swing weight is the feel of the weight of the head of the golf club when you swing it. It is measured from a 14" folkrum from the but end of the club. It is possible for a club to have an overall height weight but a lower swing weight or vise versa. Most Titleist clubs come standard at D2 e cept the Vokey wedges they are heaver. Different shafts will effect the swing weight. You can add lead tape to the heads to increase the swing weight and the woods and hybrids have a weight that can be swapped out to get your desired swing weight.
I recently increase d my whole bag to D3 it gives me more feel of the club head. Hope this helps..
