  1. Hi everyone,

Long time Titleist fan of balls and apparel but new board member. Going to get a Titleist 915D2 driver from an online store but don't know which shaft to use. Will not end up having the chance to get properly fitted for it a this point. I am not a great golfer (80s if I actually play often and 90s in the years I don't because my putting and chipping go to heck). I don't have a super consistent swing but it is getting a bit better lately. Never really paid significant money for clubs before so kind of new to most of the lingo.

Anyway, I'll get to the point. I recently was at golf town and did a club comparison between 3 clubs, so I have data on my swings with the Titleist club, with the Diamana Blue 60. I am mostly wondering if anything in my numbers from those swings indicate I should stick with that shaft or go with a different one. I don't know much about proper spin rates and launch angles. I know people won't be able to tell me exactly but anybody's best opinion would be great. Will attach some data.

Oh my practices were with a 9.5 degree driver. I don't know if that should be changed or not.

Thanks so much for any responses!

I like the #'s with the Blue Board. Spin Rate anywhere between 1400 - 1900 rpm is great. Looking at the launch angle, looks a bit low at 11 - 12* ... if you adjust it 1* higher, to 10.5* that should launch the ball a bit higher and you should get more carry distance. That's the idea ... low spin ... high launch = greater distance.
Keep tweaking & you will find the correct match.
    Good Luck!
  3. Okay thanks. I am concerned from what I have read that my spin rate might have been too low. Does increasing the loft generally lower or increase spin rate? Would a shaft make a big difference here or is it just because I have a messed up swing or something? The tee coming out of the carpet at the test site was a bit short. Is a higher tee going to have much effect on my launch angle? Some of these are probably more complicated questions than I am giving credit for.

Hate to say it but "get fit!"

Most shops will do it for free and it will give you the confidence of knowing that the club is set up to work for you. No guessing or frustration over wrong configurations. No trying to change your swing to make the club work more effectively.
Bottom line it will help you play better and increase your enjoyment. Clubs aren't cheap. Don't skimp on one most important part.

Now that you have the numbers that is great. What to do with them? What do they recommend? Only a professional can analyze these number properly and by all means very few of use on this site meet that qualification. 19HOLE, YES. When I went to my fitter he told me the ideal spin rate was between 2000 and 3000, so you see we already have a difference of opinion. Go see a professional. Like buying a car, you want the best professional advice you can get. PROFESSIONAL. Those who do it for a living and a properly trained. With respect. Chuck
