Higher ball flight than at fitting

  1. I was recently fitted for a 915 D2 with Rogue Silver 60 stiff shaft set to D1. My swing speed is 105 and I was hitting it great during the fitting with a nice penetrating ball flight. Averaged 270 yards with tight dispersion. But being a cheapskate, rather than have the club fitter build it for me for $400, I bought a used one for $200. The used driver has all the same specs and is set to D1 but I am hitting it quite a bit higher. The only parameter I'm not sure of on the demo driver was the weight. The one I bought has the standard red weight. Should I experiment with changing the weight to lower the ball flight? The other possibility is that I was teeing it higher on the range today due to those stupid rubber mat tees. Please comment on both scenarios. Thanks!

Yes, I would bet it's tee height. It makes a huge amount of difference and I vary my tee height all the time depending on both how I'm playing and the hole I am playing. I usually measure on my finger (from the tip being on the ground) to the top of the tee so I'm consistent in my tee height.

The bezel weight should not affect ball flight. The red 9 gram weight is basically the standard for drivers (unless you order a specific swing weight and then it may be different). Get back out on the turf and tee the ball up normally and see what your ball flight looks like.

Two possible issues - ball height off of the mat, and the difference in the balls from the fitting to the range. Your best comparison is going on course with the same ball as the fitting. Regardless of the ball, using the same one will make a difference.
