  1. 57 YEAR OLD. 0 HANDICAP. SMOOTH SWING. 96MPH WITH DRIVER. VERY STRAIGHT DRIVER OF THE BALL, BUT DON'T HIT IT HIGH ENOUGH. I USE A 909D2, 10.5 WITH A PROFORCE AXIVCORE TOUR BLACK 79 STIFF SHAFT. I WANT MORE DISTANCE AND HEIGHT ON MY DRIVER. PLAY IN THE NORTHWEST WHERE IT GETS WET AND NEED TO CARRY THE BALL FARTHER, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER. WANT TO BUY THE 915D2, BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT SHAFT WILL WORK. HAVE USED OTHER DRIVERS AND KNOW OTHER SHAFTS WORK. WHAT IS YOUR RECOMMENDATION?

I RECENTLY CHANGED IRON SHAFTS FROM S300 TO RECOIL 78 GRAPHITE AND WANT TO STAY LIGHT ON MY DRIVER.

Best option is to set-up a fitting with a Titleist fitter in your area to find out what works best for you. Getting the correct head/shaft combo can make a world of difference.

Instead of the 915, you might want to consider waiting a little longer for the 917s to hit the street...may be able to get fit for one now or in the near future.

In the mean time, check out all the available shafts in the Custom Options booklet.

A fitting is something I wished I had done years ago. I am 67 with both knees and one hip replaced. I have a swing speed of 96 and I hit the ball high. I was put in a 915D2 driver 8.5 degrees with a stiffer shaft. I was shocked as I thought I was too old and handicapped to handle it. It has made a tremendous difference in my game. I am most often in the fairway or playable where I wasn't before!

Couldn't agree more with the first reply. Very tough to designate what can help without seeing numbers. They've invested quite a bit of money into these Trackman's and other fitting simulators, you're likely to get a much better idea through them (although I wish I could help more!) -

    Great handicap though!
  5. My stats are very similar to yours. 56yo, 2 handicap, 95mph driver club head speed. I recently purchased a used 910 d2, 10.5* driver. I hit it very high for what I like. The other day I hit a drive dead solid and it plugged in the fairway. I ranged it back to the tee box and it flew 259 yards. I live in Colorado, it's dry air and higher altitude, blah blah blah. Point being, it has a Diamana, 'ahina 72 stiff flex shaft. Says low to mid on it also. Might be one to try.
I also was fitted last week for new irons, which I picked up today. 716AP2 with xp90 r300 true temper. Mid-high launch and 94 grams. Much lighter than my old dynamic stiff around 130 grams. I hit the new irons much higher than my old ones.
    Good luck with your search.

Fittings for the new 917s start 9/17/16. Anyone notice. 917s on 917. Verrrrrrrrrrry interesting. Check under club fittings listed to the right to see they where they will be in your area. =)
