DCI 990 to be replaced with what?

  1. Good Morning Team Titleist! I apologize in advance for the long question. I am a new member. I have played my standard DCI 990's a long time and love them. Recent injuries have caused a permanent change in my stance to upright causing fitting problems. Love the stainless steel low maintenance heads. Love the feel and feedback. New trouble with almost any mistake causing a fade. Irons are now difficult to draw. Local PGA Pro says I need a longer club and a lie angle adjustment to more upright. I am 6'3", long waisted build with slightly shorter than average arms and a new upright stance. A suggestion was to fit a couple of my clubs to get the lie, length specs to ensure getting well-fitted clubs when I replace my 990's. The Pro fears I may need more than a 2 degree bend to more upright. He also is saying when I am not constantly guarding against a fade the clubs are neutral for me and one of goals of fitting. Since I am still playing with them, (I live in Florida), here are my questions...

Are the 431 stainless heads in an annealed condition or heat treated to a higher hardness than annealed condition? Same question for new stainless steel clubheads? Is heat required to bend more than 2 degrees? Should I instead get a titleist 5 iron long hosel soft forged blade from Ebay to get length and lie because it is easier to bend? If over 2 degree lie change, do I fall into the "special or custom category"? (Replacement clubs can be blades, I picked the 990's because they were stainless and do not rust aggressively like my Vokey wedges.) Thank You very much for your time and attention. Respectfully Submitted, Max Groceman
